Go to europe and you will find a variety of cultures

Apparently whites only come in the English racist edition this season.

“Cancelling” someone over something done 20 years ago is stupid. If they’re currently still doing problematic things then they should be held accountable

Understanding of culture and race relations changes over time and is different now than it was then. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with discussing why things like that shouldn’t have been done, but unless the person is still doing it they shouldn’t be cancelled or anything. People learn and grow and I’m sure we all did stupid insensitive things in the past that don’t reflect our current attitudes or beliefs

(I’m also not at all saying Adele should be cancelled over the hair, just that we shouldn’t compare things that are two decades apart)

So it’s not offensive because it was so long ago? That makes no sense, it was either offensive back then or this isn’t offensive now, you can’t have your cake and eat it too

Am I allowed to take offence to you saying “English racist edition”? I’m white and English but wouldn’t consider myself racist

"LMAO" is not an opinion. if you aren't offended by adele wearing bantu knots (which why would you be? bantu knots are not part of your culture) then why worry about MY opinion on it? why even send a reaction to my comment if it isn't a positive one? instead of reacting, you should have commented your own opinion and not tried to diminish mine. and i haven't quoted your dusty ass in 30 minutes, i was actually replying to another user so how about YOU stop quoting me now. good ****ing bye

Rude much?

This is how people react when they know they're wrong.

LOL, you're not that important for me to care about your opinion, I was laughing at it. Reactions are there for a reason and I'm entitled to use them as I want? 😂

I have expressed my opinion, don't worry.

I could even report you. How about growing up and learn how to discuss with other people?

Inclusion and DIVERSITY. Learn those words.

I don't think you have ever complained about Gaga "appropriating" Japanese culture?

One last thing; Adele is a BLM and GLBTQ+ supporter. Fight the right battles.

Have a good life mate 😘

Did I say that anywhere :neyde:

I said we should discuss why things like that are problematic/offensive, but if they’re no longer doing it then we shouldn’t strip their career from them now just because they did something ignorant and insensitive 20 years ago

What I think @blankpaper is trying to say is always coming at ppl for something that happened a long time ago is unnecessary. Like how many of us haven't done things over a period of years that would be seen really negatively if it was public? If u haven't then ur an angel

Also that ethics and awareness grow and evolve over time. I think he was saying it's not fair to hold someone to the same standards a long time ago (especially on little more trivial things) to the now when now there's a lot more awareness to stuff and people really should know better

That's a generalization btw. I see nothing wrong with hair so I'm not even talking about doing better in this particular situation

I was referring to the post stating that there is no such thing as white culture. There are obviously different white cultures, all with their distinct practices and characteristics.

It just feels like that post only had an English speaking racist white person in mind. It was a failed joke it seems:bear:

hmm I like you so much, but it was hurting when you told me, a jew, that what Nick Cannon said was not antisemitic, you were telling me how to feel about his statement and judging how I felt.

So you did the same unfortunately and I was a bit disappointed.

I’m man enough to apologize and to say sorry if I offended you before. That’s just how I felt on the situation. If you wish to discuss more about this or things regarding racism/Black culture my PMs are open.

So if white culture is not really distinguishable and consists of blends....... Then when is it white cultural practice and when is it appropriation by a white person??? :saladga:

This has been a recurring topic in history. White people really don’t have a culture, they mainly take elements of other cultures and make it their own or claim it as their own. This been going on for years, even when Christopher Columbus claimed he discovered the US meanwhile thousands of American Indians were living there.

It's really taking a lot of pages to inform y'all that the feelings/opinions of BIPOC matter most (when it comes to these discussions)

"it’s the appropriation of a hairstyle which does not belong to white people. It is not yours to wear.”

Seriously, why do people do this? No race owns anything, we're all one. Nothing will be overcome by saying garbage like this.

I think the "white people have no culture" took us off the understanding track for a bit.

To stop racism and cultural appropriation, there needs to be education. People need to openly discuss and learn from each other. That takes time and wasn't really done much years ago. If people practiced cultural appropriation years ago, but don't anymore, it's usually safe to say they've learned it's not ok and moved on. Unless their behaviour I indicates otherwise, I find it a waste of time to attack them. There's big battles to fight, especially in the US.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch
