I loved them as a kid but now I think they could be way better. Good for a comfort re-watch though and admittedly it must have been really difficult to condense the stories into individual films. I think a Netflix series with a season per book would be incredible, the story lends itself to that format way better and you could cover all the little details they had to leave out of the movies. Doubt that will ever happen though, especially with the mess JK is spewing these days.

I've thought about this too, as TV series have basically reached the quality level of feature films. It will definitely happen at some point, tho it's gonna be hard for me to watch another adaptation with another art direction... I can't imagine Hogwarts being different than what it is in the movies for instance. It also has a lot to do with the fact I started reading the books after seeing the first film, so I've never imagined this world differently. The films have also been so influential that it's just hard to imagine it redone - a bit like The Lord of the Rings, it made such an impact that it does feel like the definitive adaptation of the source material. Those books will definitely get remade, but I don't think it would make sense to do it before a few decades.

I know it's one of the most critically acclaimed film of the series, but Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 is probably my least favorite... I won't get into specifics if you haven't seen it, but just like the rest of the latest movies, it just feels rushed, uninspired at times, and splitting the book in 2 movies didn't necessarily help. Most of the major plot points happened in Pt. 1, so Pt. 2 feels very bland as a whole.

Wha- If anything Part 1 was stretched too thin and dragged at points. Part 2 is when almost all of the important stuff happens: Gringotts, the destruction of all the Horcruxes, the battle of Hogwarts, Snape’s memories, Harry’s death and return, the final confrontation with Voldemort.

I hate them all but PoA is the best among the worst.

I wish Disney got the rights to the franchise and not WB

What:bear:  Pt. 1 is almost uneventful :fatcat:

I swear to you, Pt. 2 is basically one giant battle scene :awkney: They cut the book in a very weird place.

For some reason my brother and I rewatched Chamber of Secrets with our grandma like 2000 times when we were younger lol

Honestly, I've never been super into the movies?  I loved the books and reread them all multiple times when I was younger, but the movies didn't capture me as much, especially the later ones.  I'm not sure why!  Maybe I should give them another go sometime.  I don't think I even bothered to watch the last couple when they came out.

I think you’re right - they’re bound to do it at some point but probably not for a long time.

It’s so true, whenever I’ve revisited the books I always picture the castle and grounds as shown in the films. Also, certain characters I just can’t even begin to imagine being played by anyone else - like Snape, McGonagall, Umbridge. It’s hard to detach those performances from the characters!

I just think they've cut the book in a very weird place. I actually don't think Deathly Hallows deserved to be cut: a 3 hour epic final film would have been amazing.

I do agree with that. And the fact that OOTP was kept as a single film and on top of that is the shortest movie being the longest book at 864 pages :sharon:

I know, this is ridiculous... The overall Department of Mysteries chapters are so epic in the book, I can't believe they didn't have the budget to do something better than what we ultimately got. Like I said elsewhere, people would have sat through 3 hour-long films at this point, I don't know why they started cutting like crazy from GoF.
