socotra 3,310 Posted August 30, 2020 Share Posted August 30, 2020 the way i see it, fans seem to fall into 2 camps. you saw this especially with Chromatica, where the people who have 911/Replay as their faves uniformly disliked 1000 Doves/Plastic Doll, and vice versa. there are the fans who prefer Gaga's campy side (BTW-Hair-Gypsy-Plastic Doll-Babylon) – typically bigger vocals, whimsical lyrics, unabashed flamboyant cheesiness, etc. on the other side are people who prefer her original "dark" electropop sound (LoveGame-HML-GUY-ARTPOP-Aura-911) - usually more experimental, it "sounds" dark, a more rhythmic lyrical structure in contrast to big vocals, etc. Gypsy is a fan favorite for the first kind of fan. Beautiful, universal lyrics - I adore her vocals, especially during that flawless bridge. Its flaw-free. Whether it’s played acoustic or with the full band, it’s my favorite melody of any Gaga song. It carries this feeling of “I don’t know what the future holds, but right now, this is exactly where I want to be.” So many lyrics in this song give me goosebumps every time I hear them, especially the second verse and the final chorus. “I don’t want to be alone forever, but I won’t be tonight.
