No one has time nor energy to argue with essays of ignorance. I just saw few laughable statements, then I checked again, there were 10 more. :wtfga: It’s enough to know you’re anti Palestinian and anti BLM. That means you approve of Israeli apartheid and occupation and you’re (at least) ok with RACISM. You said “BLM is founded by pro Palestine” (what?!) but then “you’ll always be on side of justice” which is an obvious CONTRADICTION. Honestly, no one has time for this. :messga:

so u think that the founders of BLM aren’t pro Palestine? Which btw I am not against Palestinians, but agains the terrorist groups that govern it, WHICH is different. Israel also, is the #1 that provides humanitarian aid to Palestine so....Also I am against fundamental principles of BLM like for example: capitalism is racist.

You know how boring these threads would become if we turned it into even more of an echo chamber than it already is? :laughga:

Not Vuvuela...

Democratic socialists are calling for the socialism of the Scandinavian countries. What you’re referring to is authoritarian socialism. Nobody’s asking for that... like how am I getting likes for saying I want to save the planet yet I also secretly want the government to kill its own citizens??? Make it make sense 😭 Not all leftism is the same.

P.S. maybe Venezuela would be better off if the US hadn’t tried to stage a coup and regime change after its harsh sanctions on them in the past <3

Sir, the sanctions only affected HIGH officials and 99% of Venezuelans AGREE with those sanctions. Maybe ummm read about it? All Trump has done for Venezuela has been positive in terms of lobbying and upping the pressures. Lmao u have no idea of what u r talking about.

I agree with your rabbit hole theory but respectfully, I don’t really know why you brought it up. Yes we are better off than countries like Libya and Sudan, but you could argue they also **** on people below them, like their religions discriminations of LGBT+ POC thanks to their religions. I am grateful for my first world position on the earth, but I don’t think that negates the responsibility for fighting for a better world.

Also great analysis on the Reaganomics thing. Thanks for the background, it makes a lot of sense. Automation really is highly underrated for stealing jobs huh? Yeah immigrants are also all up in the jobs market, but they’re waaay too overused.

and yeah I liked the UBI idea, but investing in infrastructure really is the main goal. The one good thing Biden did was promise to have free community college for those under $125k salary. Those are the best for lifting those from poverty to middle class with good practical skills.

I realized last night that I wouldn’t cry if Universities stayed expensive. Yeah we need to eliminate all student debt but like Ivy league schools are the Gucci of education: nice and fancy but a belt is still a belt. I just mentioned UBI in regards to rn w the virus... as public works projects probably can’t be done while doing social distancing. In the long run, infrastructure is a good thing to fix.

I want that high speed Toronto - Ottawa railroad bad :messga:

I dunno why ur asking me why I brought it up I explained why. The reason I brought it up was because of the generational view that boomers simony don't care. I'm simony pointing out that I think it has more to do with their position and circumstances and not because the younger generation is so much more sensitive to problems. We are sensitive to OUR problems but when it comes to brushing off ppl below us I don't think we are truly that better than boomers. I was just calling out kettle calling pot there :selena:

Yeah. Automation does steal jobs... It doesn't mean it has to be a bad thing tho. It has been bad because we have not prepared for it properly and invested in the skills accordingly

Since the industrial revolution we've always had jobs that became outdated. We've always been requiring less and less labor to produce the same amount of stuff. That's not a bad thing in itself. It's what makes it possible for our standard of living to rise

Think about it. Before Industrial revolution very few people enjoyed more than basic necessities of life. Too much effort and labor was needed just to farm and build our society.

Then when we could mass produce those things it doesn't mean everyone went unemployed. Saved money could be spent on other stuff and labor could be used to produce that stuff. Hence rise of new industries, services, entertainment and other luxuries. It's only possible to have 3/4 of people working in service or tertiary sectors because 1/4 of people in the base sectors is more than enough for our industrial, construction, raw materials production etc needs.

The point is when less labor is required, it becomes cheaper to produce something. That cheaper good leaves more money for consumers to spend on something else and support a new type of industry and job. That's what's happened for the last 200 years until recently. Automation in itself being bad I think is a total myth. We actually need it if we expect our standard of living to keep rising. We cannot enjoy more consumption if our productive capacity and productivity don't keep increasing output per worker

However the tricky thing with automation too tho is that the economy has become so technical that more jobs now than ever before are not level entry jobs. Special skills and training are required. This is holding many people back from taking on oppurtunities. It's not that jobs don't exist anymore due to automation. There's tones of job openings and labor shortages in many sectors that for many years continue to go unfilled. And the skills mistmatch hurts both people who can't take advantage of better paying oppurtunities because they aren't qualified and it's also a restraining factor in many companies not growing as quickly as they could

That's why in the modern economy I think education should be the single biggest priority. Our population ain't isn't equipped to function in this economy because skills requirements and technology has advanced at a faster rate than our education. The result is unemployment.

And of course the infrastructure, investments in green economy and those safety nets we talked about are part of the package too. But looking at the root issues I think education has to be the #1 priority in terms of getting people employed and making a good living

While I do think very extremely high taxes on the rich some propose go too far and might do more harm than good... I think there's room to raise them enough to accomplish this stuff we talked about. And in the case of the US military cuts would free up a lot of money also

The pressures of regime change to take the oil from sovereign nations for the billionth time? Omg yas so praiseworthy :applause:  The US isn’t completely responsible but they did have a part in the mess that’s going on there. Anyway you’re still missing the point.

Not you saying I have no idea what you brought up Venezuela when American politics are the discussion and Bernie always brings up Denmark or Norway. The American people love Bernie’s leftist plans on solving the issues and those have majority support too. One crumb of policy speak on the issues please sir 🤲 :fatcat:  looks like you need to read up on that — ykno, the actual important stuff?

NOT people bringing up Venezuela :rip:

You know the conversation is lost once they bring that up. As if authoritarian Latin American corrupt governments is what Western leftists want, and not similar systems to European countries.

She criticizes her mother for doing it all for the money and fame, which is basically what she's doing herself by going public like that... Idk, if I had a major family issue to fix, I'd do it privately. But that wouldn't be the American way, I guess :awkney:

Well, I never claimed to be morally perfect because that doesn’t exist. I think fighting for the betterment of society outweighs the hypocrisy tbh.

and yeah that’s my main sticking points with a UBI. The last time industrialization happened peolle didnt just fall back on a UBI then, altho they’re still a decent idea. Like maybe we need to search for new jobs. The machines (which I’m in full support of) don’t have us on creativity yet, so many more jobs could start to focus more on managerial and problem solving issues.

When robots eventually have stellar AI and able bodies it’s over for us :selena: As long as they don’t get mad at how we’ve enslaved them right now we might not face human extinction terminator style :bear:

But, at that point we’d just have to probably give up on the whole job idea to begin with... we could focus on passions more. Sounds heavenly tbh.

But yeah, back to our century, did you hear that the US congress recently spiked down a 10% cut to help with the virus? Cut the military down 40-50% and they’d still be the biggest... corruption is a disease 🤢
