Scientists believe they have discovered the oldest known example of a squid-like creature attacking its prey, found in a fossil dating back almost 200 million years. The fossil was found on the Jurassic coast in Dorset in the 19th century and is currently kept within the collections of the British Geological Survey in Nottingham.

New analysis suggests it shows a creature, identified by researchers as a Clarkeiteuthis montefiorei, with a herring-like fish called Dorsetichthys bechei in its jaws.

Researchers say the position of the creature's arms, alongside the body of the fish, point to it not being a quirk of fossilisation but instead the recording of an event.

Professor Malcolm Hart, emeritus professor at the University of Plymouth, said: "Since the 19th century, the Blue Lias and Charmouth Mudstone formations of the Dorset coast have provided large numbers of important body fossils that inform our knowledge of coleoid palaeontology."

It's said that they are ''aliens'' to us in the sense that are very far away from us but still incredible smart. It's almost like they are a completely different life form on the same earth as us.

And Gaga must probably knows this info.

So, this probably means that while the squid was trying to eat the fish, it either got squished by rock, or died some other way - rip :vegas:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

What they are guessing is that the fish was either too big and violent and fought back, either it became stuck in squid's jaw.

Damn, I look forward to future scientists finding a fossil of me with another man's pelvis right in front of my skull... He just became stuck in my jaw, what can I say :huntyga:
