Disagree because I love songs like guy and marry the night and do what u want which were also not favorably perceived so everybody's perception of the song doesn't decide my perception. I think stupid love is a basic song that doesn't rly do anything for me.. Instrumental sounds like it mangled do what u want into pieces and threw that irritating vocal sound in instead of a true chorus. I think the droning kick drums are also outdated on the song making it feel ... Not fresh.  The only good part about the song was the prechorus but even that has lost its novelty so

Daylight Jokers

My only issue with the video is the use of a mobile phone. iPhone's camera is definitely great, but a cinema camera would've elevated the video to a whole different level. But I enjoyed the video a lot and thought that's the best she's ever danced since 2016. She didn't look like she was struggling. The song too, it's definitely not her best but I enjoyed how 80's Whitney it sounded. The bassline of SL is one of my favorite moments in the album. My only issue with it is its lack of a proper chorus, but I got over it.

It's not the story or the length. ROM is also short and not a movie video either

SL just felt cheap to me. Cheap green screen CGI that doesn't look real and cheap clothing props that look like the material was bought at the dollar store

That's my issue with the SL video. It wasn't good quality to me at all. ROM was miles better

I didn't even know if there was one or not tbh that wasn't really the point at hand and doesn't matter

The point is whatever they used to film it or whatever effects they use don't look real. It looks cheap

It was supposed to look cheap and campy

Cookie Tookie

Everything on Chromatica stomps all over it. It’s cute, but nowhere near the best.

I personally love the video. The retro, happiness and campiness of it.

Not all videos need to be 20 minutes long with a deep and meaningful story when the song is fun.

The song is a bop.

True but she kind of set up a half story there. I think that’s the bigger problem. It felt a little half-baked. For the record, I don’t like ROM’s video either BUT at least they didn’t try to shoe-horn a story in. It was what it was. So cool, fine; I can accept that lol I think I’d like SL’s video more if she hadn’t tried to sort of make a story (and if the filter for it looked more like the Apple promo shots from the set which were beautiful and not at all cheap-looking). Retro isn’t the issue, it just felt not fully realized imo but I’m glad you love it :) I like the song a lot

I love the song! But theMV felt pretty safe imo. i think if she did go further with the campy and Japanese sci-fi aspects and came thru with the 90’s VHS aesthetic, the video would be better. But thats on the art direction and not exactly her fault.

I'm talking about the fan base as a whole tho. Obviously not everyone (like u) will necessairily get influenced by that

Better Day

Stupid Love is a great song for what it is. It is nothing groundbreaking. It wasn’t made to change the music industry. It is a fun, simple song and video.

I like the video much more than the one for ROM. Idk how some of y’all don’t see a ‘concept’ or storyline but ROM is just different shots merged together almost like a commercial :awkney:

True but its more sleek and polished.

I feel the opposite. There was a lot of hype, goodwill, and good reviews because people were thirsty. But ignoring all that and analyzing the song for what it is, it's a misfire. The lyrics, the chorus, the video, the look were all begging to flop. The one redeeming quality was the production but even that was dated; not nostalgic if that's what they were going for. The fact so many people, including Max Martin, had a hand in the song both production and songwriting yet this is what they came up with? Even radio gave it a very fair chance until the call out scores came out. But it was tanking on every other metric (Spotify, Apple )

There was no green screen, it was shot on location. And there’s little to no CGI, aside from the sparkly things in the background.
