How do you deal with all the pressure as one of the biggest pop stars in the world? You always have to be perfect. You always have to perform at number one. How do you deal with it ?

I don't feel that way anymore so I don't feel like I have to be perfect or you know hit the number one slot. I feel like I'm out of that loop. I feel like I can just come as I am in a lot of ways and I feel grateful now to be able to be more of an artist than ever because I'm not you know worrying about the trends or what have you. I just want to stay true to myself and my message and deliver that most authentically you know through whichever medium and so I think that's what this process this journey I've I am I'm not so attached to it all even though it's fun and I enjoy it and I love it and I want all of the people in the world to hear the record that's coming on the 28th i want everyone to hear it. I want everyone to enjoy it if they can but it's out of my control I think.

This summer Teenage Dream will turn 10 years and looking back at the time of how do you mold new trends back in the time and and how you're trying to innovative every time with every record and nowadays just feels like you're just gonna be transparent be happy be you be yourself and and try to connect with with your friends ?

I love every record that I put out. You know even though my last record it it was a complete experiment an investigation and you know was it had its set of challenges I still love it. I still love Teenage Dream and Prism and One of the Boys. And this is my only my fifth record. They're real kind of like time stamps of where I was emotionally or what I've been through and that I've been able to come through that's a lot of what this record is a touchstone for me I remember it a little way to remind myself that like I'll be okay if I ever have to walk through hell again. I can come through it but the escapism like you said is necessary  I think a lot of the songs, not a lot but there are some songs on the record that are just joyful escapism like you know you just want to have a drink and you just want to dance and you want to get you know silly with your family or your friends or whoever your pot is right and you don't want to think about the last headline you read on the news and I think this record can help with that in some ways

When everyone panic we just pause ourselves  and you just say  let's move forward let's put music out there let's do some videos let's keep going …

This record for me got a lot of hope in it and it's not just a noise. It's not just like banging on some pots and pans, shaking my ass. That's it's got a lot of intent in it and so my hope is that when the listener listens to it they can feel it and they can become it. They can feel resilient they can feel hopeful they can feel like they can make it through whatever dark challenge or they they're going through. I wouldn't just put out any record during this time because this time is really strange and it changes every week but I'm happy to do this and then happy to deliver my child and then shift my energy that's great.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that she's not putting pressure on herself to be at #1 anymore but let's be real, would she really be saying this if Witness had been another huge success? It's just funny how artists claim that having hits doesn't matter to them anymore after they go through a career nosedive. I just wish they were a bit more honest about why they changed their outlook because we've heard this same story with the same catchphrases across the board. If she's in a place where she can be truly happy with being a smaller artist, great, but I still have trouble believing that someone who achieved 9 #1's in 6 years could possibly be ok with the way things are going now. It was just 5 years ago that she was the highest paid woman in music and posing in a money suit on the cover of Forbes, saying how proud she was to be on the cover and inspiring other women to be the boss. That passion can't just have gone away overnight because of one lacklustre album. By all means, change your outlook out of realism but be honest about it.

maybe just maybe, she really doesn’t care about the charts anymore. but i’m glad you feel the right to tell her how she feels. :bear:

Change in circumstances are usually the reason for a turn-around in personal outlook on things, though. Everyone thinks #1's matter when they're currently achieving them. When the hits stop, you really want me to believe they drive for success just vanishes with them? This is the woman who was close to tears when E.T. wasn't performing well on the UK charts just after release (even though it ended up peaking in the top 5). I don't think caring that much about the charts just goes away. I think she's still in the process of talking herself into being ok with her new set of circumstances. In her own words, she says it wasn't until Witness that she realised that you can't hit the bullseye every time. Very timely turn-around of outlook, is what I'm saying.

I'd say the opposite since she's doing a lot of promo while being pregnant :bear:

Why are you so obsessed with how Katy says things, or pretty much ANYTHING she does? It’s like you have some special notifications for when a Katy thread is made.
