StrawberryBlond 14,881
It just goes to prove that these shows are nothing but a payday to these judges, that must be the only reason they're still signing up as not only have these shows been in freefall for years now but some never even produced big stars in the first place. This reboot has had no successful winners thus far and that's an understatement. Why would anyone sign on to be a judge on such a show? Money talks. Though I don't know if Katy's still being paid as much as she did for the first season. I hope the recent spate of ex contestants from singing shows coming forward with tales of mistreatment by producers eventually is enough to make viewers switch off. 1 hour ago, TimisaMonster said: The show is so short it literally feels like 10 episodes and you're done...nobody on those shows even becomes known or puts out music lol The last true singing competition winner I feel was Adam Lambert...everyone after that was just on a karaoke show Adam Lambert didn't even win, he was runner up! Kris Allen won that year. Couldn't even get so much as a top ten single out of his win. That tells you how much the show tries to manipulate viewers into voting for who the judges/producers want to win as opposed to the one that might actually be a genuine star. The fact almost all the winners are male also tells you that the show is watched by mostly females who vote for males due to their looks and charm. I once saw this great sum-up of the format: "You have this alliance between young girls and grandmas and they see it, not necessarily as a contest to create a pop star competing on the contemporary radio, but as who's the nicest guy in a popularity contest." The format is so outdated. I honestly thought when internationally, countries dropped the Idol concept and moved on to X Factor and The Voice which involved groups being allowed to compete and each judge having a team and even having a judging panel made up completely of singers where they don't even see the contestant until they like what they hear, it would make America decide American Idol was old hat and just drop it completely. But the bigwigs are always terrified to take a risk.
