Return of COVID-19 after 102 Days in New Zealand, 4 New Cases

"New Zealand’s biggest city Auckland will be shut down from midday on Wednesday after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern warned four new cases of coronavirus had emerged.

The country had achieved a record 102 days of no new transmissions and has been widely held up internationally as the model on how to beat the virus with the strictest regulations in the world.

Citizens in Auckland will be expected to work from home unless they are essential workers, and schools will close, as will bars, cafes and restaurants until the end of the week.

Ardern said in a televised press conference, “We’re asking people in Auckland to stay home to stop the spread.

“Act as if you have COVID, and as though people around you have COVID.”

I'm confused about this. Dont they quarantine people for 14 days? How many tests they are doing?

Her stance on dealing with this virus from the beginning has been so clear & her Govt. have been formidable in responding to it. I hope this lockdown allows them to get on top of contact tracing & ensuring an outbreak doesn’t happen here!

Yes they have been. But these 4 new cases aren’t return travellers, they’re being recognised as community transmission.

New Zealand have shown nothing but the utmost competence in dealing with this virus and I have no doubt this time it will be the same
