Oh is that what people are saying?  I thought it was more of “stop treating her and every decision she makes like she’s a complete failure of a person. Hmm, interesting. Let’s keep reading.

Ok work. Define the definition of entertaintment to me hunty.

Ok so, you have paid for an album. That’s it. That’s what you’ve got. If you buy merch, fabulous. Be about that merch life. Those are personal investments one ghey chooses to make. Anything else is extra. And unless you are buying said concert ticket, she’s not personally entertaining you/doing her job for you. Period.

Okay so go off telling artists how to be artists. Let me ask, do you have a background/training/career/hobby in the arts? My guess is no, because you may not be stating such weighty demands as the Artists’ Manifesto In Times of COVID. If so, then I don’t really understand who you are to be stating this as fact. And that artists are failures if their creative process (this is important, trust me,) doesn’t align with your personal schedule.

Also, Gaga is not a failure after putting out an album she worked on for years, plus two singles and music videos? And you’re devastates because she hasn’t done more?

Hey, remember when she raised $95 million for COVID relief? Pretty awesome, no? Pretty the opposite of disappointing. Give me a break.

Wait, I thought she was her job though? Didn’t we pay for an album, and isn’t she supposed to entertain us? Now I’m confused. So she’s an entertainer, but she’s not her job?? Or is she an entertainer, but not doing her job, but also isn’t her job?

Ah yes, the old “we expected X, and artist A is doing X, why can’t Gaga be more like her? :grr:“ I’m not really sure what to say except this isn’t fair. Not all artists operate in the same way and that’s pretty basic knowledge. Your expectations are not someone else’s burden. :coffee:

Ok but why do I not feel like this is genuine praise? I thought you were so disappointed. I guess you can think Gaga is failing at her job, but still be gagged at the seemingly meager scraps she’s throwing you. Ok.

Should have? That’s subjective. And what timeline are we going off of? Your personal one, based on...things? Or the one Gaga and her team most definitely have had to retool and maybe completely overhaul given the state of the world? I think I know which one I have more confidence in.

And again, no one is arguing that Gaga shouldn’t be criticized. It’s more that people are objectively terrible at criticism and turn it into bashing, or in this case, opinions stated as facts, with little respect or faith in the woman.

People have a right to feel what they feel. How they choose to express that is their choice, and the response from that should come as no surprise.

I hope I was able to respond to all of your points. Gaga doesn’t owe us anything.

Well, you responded. But missed all the points as I expected someone like you would. Your sassy 'gay lingo' attempts doesn't mean you made points. I don't have the time or energy to break down all your "responses" like you attempted to with me. But here we go.

You fail you realise that Gaga is a human being. Yes, she is famous. But a human being just like you and I. What does this mean? Well it means that not everything she does is perfect, and because of this, she is open to criticism and accountability just like you and I. But lets proceed.

Believe it or not, Lady Gaga has a job. You might not have one or understand what that means, but she has a job. Just because she is famous doesn't mean she doesn't have a job. She is an entertainer. She's a singer/songwriter, and a performer. Its her job to entertain people. Yes she released an album, and some visuals along with that. But what else has she done? General music listeners are more than happy to just have music and nothing else. They don't "stan" anyone so they literally just listen to the top 40 and what is on they'll listen to. Asking fans/stans of a specific artist to just be satisfied with an album, when those same people are expecting way more than that as thats what's happened in the past, is obviously going to be met with frustration and disappointment.

This isn't about me. Of course she doesn't just entertain me. But its not hard to see that others feel the same way. Buying music, or merch, or concert tickets, is not something you would do if you didn't want to be entertained. You are paying for something, and in return, you expect to be entertained. I said merch in my original post because this is something that people spend money on as they expect their favourite artist to entertain or give fans more things to be entertained with. You are supporting someone, and in return, they do their job. Period.

Your next "point" makes zero sense. Other artists have put on shows, performed their songs, done online interactive stuff with their fans etc etc. Thats entertainment in my eyes, wouldn't you agree?

Never said she was a failure. But its not enough during a dark time - when people are literally alone and have no "escape" from the real world - to just be silent. Its literally the bare minimum someone like Gaga could do. Chromatica was always gonna come this year, and cudos to her for being able to release it after two years in the making. No one saw covid coming. But, that doesn't mean that it should stop there when the album was released. What about other singles and music videos? What about interviews? What about live performances? These are all things Gaga could have done.

Your next point makes no sense again.

Chromatica is an amazing album and its my favourite Lady Gaga album. But, she hasn't done anything else other than releasing that album. For one of the darkest times in modern history, it was time for people like her do what they can with 1) their platform and voice (which she has done brilliantly), and 2) to really rise to the occasion and help put a smile on more people's faces. For an entertainer she hasn't done her job. Its that simple.

By jumping down everyone who don't live in the "Gaga can do no wrong world", you are effectively telling people that she can't be criticised. Yes, people take it too far it its right to call them out on it. But take a look at why they're acting like that. Nowhere did I sate my opinion was fact, so you're wrong there.

You're right when you say people have a right to feel what they feel. Thats the beauty of conversations. As long as nobody takes it too far, then thats all that matters. And the response from that should come as no surprise.

Hope I was able to respond to all your "points". Gaga does owe us something.

You don't need to "yaaas mama, hunty werk" Laganja. Using sassy language doesn't mean you made points.

Goodnight

Edit: Also, note the assumption that everyone on here is gay :billie:  I don't have "internalised homophobia" lmao but okay

I hate claims like these because whether they realize it or not, they too are being hypocritical too.

I hate this policing that fans do where they feel they need to stand up for their idol at ANY slightest bit of negativity. I mean at the end of the day, she’s a popstar chill.

If people complain, move on with your life, people have opinions so let people say what they want, it’s not your responsibility to censor people and rather delusional to say she doesn’t owe us anything!, come on guys it’s not a cult here, she’s an entertainer and chose this profession and I probably would give her some slack for the pandemic but seeing so many artist like Taylor finding creative ways to work around these times and producing their own music videos or interacting with their fans online out of sheer boredom, so it does start to look bad on Gaga.

people gotta get it in their heads that she’s human like us with her own personal needs, not saying I’m with her or against her but what annoys me is fans acting like they are her representatives shutting people down for having a different opinion than theirs

I don't agree with that at all. She owes us everything. We fans are the ones who put her up there, if she doesn't give us what we want we can bring her down too.

This. An actual adult response. Thank you!!! I’m so tired of people here at GGD telling us what to feel or not feel, say or not say. Let fans be. We all love Gaga.

Well, she owes me an "ady Gaga" on my art card that currently is only signed with a "Z." :huntyga: But other than that, she herself owes me nothing.
