Jose P 23,341
Many of you are misunderstanding what she said. Gaga didn’t say she wrote the song with the trans community in mind, it’s obvious she wrote it about herself. The thing is that she didn’t feel like a free woman so the song felt meaningless to her when she sung it. Therefore, she imagined the song as being aimed towards the trans community instead of herself. She just needed to give it a meaning instead of feeling detached from the lyrics. She’s not saying the song is about trans women and no one else. It includes all women, but she thinks of it as aimed to trans women bc that way it gains more meaning to her. Which I don’t think is an attempt to be “woke” when Gaga has always been very outspoken about her support for the trans community.
