Just out of curiosity for a song that went to #84 at BB Hot 100 without individual promotion at the release of Chromatica.

What would’ve happened if Alice were the first single? And the video included Chromatica I interlude.

More comercial aclaim? More hype for the album? What are your thoughts

It probably would've been a bigger song, and if it had a really interesting video, but I don't know, I love Stupid Love and its video, I'm happy with the way it went, except for the almost no promo part but that was out of her control :vegas:

i honestly love Stupid Love. it's the definition of grower. i did NOT like the song at first listen, but several months later, it's legit one of my favorite gaga songs ever.

that being said, i think Alice would have

a.) pleased this fanbase more on first listen

b.) probably would've been more in-step with the current music scene than SL was

People would have hate it just like they hate SL... 🙃 And they’d praise SL

Alice is more memorable and catchy to me than SL so I think it would have done better. I've seen people say that it's too """experimental""" for the GP which I disagree with, the song is quite commercial actually. Esp compared to all her other lead singles with the exception of JD. Had it been the lead, received proper promo, and actually had a good video, I think it could have been one of her signature hits.

Maybe Alice was the first song to be played on Chromatica, especially with hype of ROM and Sour Candy previously, that it could debut inside hot 100. :nails:

And imagine thinking Alice would do well on radio when ROM couldn't even.

Please ignore the spelling in username. I am a Beyonce stan afterall.

It would’ve been an interesting first single. Idk if fans would’ve been any happier cause we always find something to complain about but i wouldn’t put too much emphasis on the chart position. It’s essentially the album opener and those tracks tend to have higher streams because people are checking out the album

I mean, you could say this about SL too. If it had more promo and a better video, it might’ve done better too.

While I still enjoy the SL video, it’s definitely not her best.

Don’t even get me started on the missed opportunity that was the entire videography for this era

Stupid Love is a decent video and ROM is like a 9/10, what's wrong with it so far?
