'Settle For Biden' Group Calls him 'Unappetizing' but 'Edible'

A group of former Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders supporters have created a social media campaign titled "Settle For Biden." The initiative is ostensibly focused on drumming up youth support for the establishment nominee and rallying the party behind the former VEEP to push Trump out of office in November; mostly, however, it is defined by a preoccupation with trolling the Scranton native. Today's tweet underscored that in meme form:

A new spotlight was shone on the cracks in the Democratic Party earlier this week when former Ohio State Senator and Sanders 2020 campaign co-chair Nina Turner likened a vote for Biden to consuming "dog sh*t." Progressives, and in particular Bernie Sanders supporters, are unenthused about Biden's candidacy due in large part to his authorship of the 1994 Crime Bill and his opposition to Medicare For All. He also voted in favor of invading Iraq two decades ago, and lied about his stance on the war during the 2020 campaign. Elizabeth Warren said that anyone who supported it made a mistake. Nonetheless, both she and Sanders have endorsed Biden because they want to see President Trump defeated and avoid a repeat of 2016 where Hillary Clinton failed to overcome a large enthusiasm gap in her losing effort.

This is always going to be the case with any candidate for any election for certain groups of voters.   If Bernie were the nominee, you’d hear this same kinda thing from Biden supporters.  It’s also how Trump got elected - plenty of republican voters thought he was like eating a plate of dog **** but thought Hillary was like eating 100 plates of dog ****. Hopefully there are plenty of republicans that think highly enough of Biden to switch over this election.

Not when the rignf wing dems started the #VoteBlueNoMatter who. Not when opinion polls show more support for Bernie’s platform. Not when Biden the enthusiasm isn’t with Biden.

Just no ❤️

I think it probably sums up where the progressive movement is at on him pretty well though. Find Biden to be too moderate, too establishment, too tied to the machine, but just dislike Trump more
