Ceres 3,221
*I don’t know her gif* on her own, probs not. Think she would benefit being featured on a trending song to get her name back out there for a real shot ✧ ✧ ✧

Further, while Gaga's music was about sex and dancing, she had a fully realized vision around The Fame, the songs were lyrically strong for pop, her sound was different from what was dominating radios when the album dropped, and her image fit the album. There's a reason she stood out. Ava is really lacking some of those critical details Gaga had perfectly executed. Yeah I definitely agree that Gaga had better lyrical content and had a better vision but I do feel like Ava can get there if her team helps her and we might see that growth with a 2nd album. I think the way her label has been stringing her along is what created this “non-uniform“ image. "My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..." Gaga had a number one, Katy did, Kesha did, Dua has gotten really close... The would've been a number 1 hit if released during a time when the charts weren't dominated by rap songs or mainstream trash. Her getting 35+ million streams a month is impressive alone and without an album is even more impressive. Yes she's not huge but she has potential and makes bops which is the only thing that matters. I like her. I don't stan her but I like her music. Love it when you call me legs, in the morning buy me eggs 🥚

Guest
You guys sure are super critical over pop artists who make dance bops.
gagaxsebert 5,804
I don’t dislike Ava. I just don’t have that much of an opinion. SBS, Torn & FMO were great pop songs but the rest were meh. She’s too basic, maybe that image is being forced by the label? Who knows, to breakthrough. I don’t really see the Gaga comparisons because Gaga is very unique & artistic. And not saying she’s not, completely, but I doubt she has much creative control. I think she might just have a small but loyal fanbase kinda like Charli XCX or Carly Rae Jepsen Used to be HighRoad

I'm sure there are challenges in starting your career during the streaming era, where there is a need to crank out "hits" rather than focus on a cohesive album like it used to be. It'd be interesting to see how her sophomore album works out, especially if she's given more control or is dropped by the label. I'd imagine her work would be more personable and, if not hit material, get her a dedicated fan base a la Carly Rae Jepsen.
