Is Gaga being limited by her fanbase?

Listening to Taylor Swift’s new amazing album made me think that if Gaga had come up with this type of sound for LG6 all the fanbase would be mad at her because its not upbeat music, but Taylor fans are really enjoying it... and it’s really sad because I don’t see other fanbases limiting their faves with the “no ballads” narrative, KP releasing Daisies as a lead is another example.
i think Chromatica is great and I appreciate it much more than I did when it came out, but it made me wonder if Gaga refrains from being more experimental because she doesn’t want to let down the fans who are expecting only dance music from her and the ammount of undeserved hate that Joanne gets...

anyways let’s just celebrate that we are getting great music this year :woohoo:

Because Taylor was knowned and loved first and foremost because of her slow-tempo ballads. That's how she started out.

What is done in the dark shall one day come to light.

I was just talking about this. Gaga is expected to present a certain type of music or fans don't respond well, as we saw with Joanne. Joanne is a fantastic album, yet people on ggd will say "i hate that yeehaw cowsht, make more dance music btch" (which i think someone on here literally said verbatim :stalkga:). But Taylor has changed her style throughout her last 6 albums and she's praised for it. I think Gaga's creativity is somewhat stifled. And if she has any of her team coming on ggd to get a feel for what she should do next, she shouldn't.

I dont think she is limited at all, I mean there is the fair share of people who just pushed aside her jazz album (judging you :triggered: ) but a lot of people got on board with it and like it and also ASIB's more folk-y rock-y songs and the ballads there. A lot of people want a gaga rock album but I guess the pop gays are just louder and I think going with the sound of Chromatica was a good idea for this release. Maybe she'll stick with an electronic sound or maybe she'll try something else. She sure has proven that she will try different things no matter what her fanbase says.

I think Joanne was just more judged because she didnt seem to really commit to the folk/country vibe and threw in the bops to satisfy some people.

Joanne was anything but a good album, the only good song was Million Reasons other than that it was a skip :selena:

Plus you can’t compare Taylor to Gaga when it comes to writing. Taylor is a master at writing, her songs are very complex where Gaga is more repetitive.

I really don’t think Gaga pays that much attention to her fan base when creating music anymore otherwise we wouldn’t have C2C, Joanne or the ASIB Soundtrack. None of these releases were made to appease the pop stans and I doubt Gaga really cares what we all think anymore after the sheer hatred she gets from supposed ‘fans’ for doing what she wants when she wants. It’s her career not ours at the end of the day!

I think both the fan base and the record label and probably the GP wanted dancepop Gaga after C2C, Joanne and ASIB but I hope she can do whatever she wants with her next project.

At the end of the day I just want her to do something she is passionate about and can stand by it without sound forced, cause honestly the way she is handling this roll out makes her look like she doent give a shite about her album nor her fanbase.

No, I don't think she cares what we want.

I mean she cares, but not enough to stop her doing what she wants. ARTPOP era taught her that she can't rely on her fans approval for personal satisfaction, and she's better off for it.

The way the album was presented including singles and promotion was a mess. Something you don’t see with Taylor’s albums.

Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift have a huge common point on their latest releases : they both went back to their old music roots.

The difference is that Gaga has deep roots in dance / pop while Taylor has deep roots in pop / folk / music.

You can't expect their fanbases to react the same to the music they are releasing.
