I think you do not understand that history has a tendency to under-represent women and there is a societal obligation to ensure representation across all sexes. Sexism has long been a global societal issue and the current musical climate is exhibiting that again. How is it 'not a problem' when it's showing symptoms of a disease we are already so familiar with? It is problematic.

Okay, you have a different point of view.

I agree with you on some points.

But "Focus" by Ariana is like... one of the worst generic pop song ever :ladyhaha: I didn't knew it was supposed to be the lead single from Dangerous Woman but I'm glad she changed ! "Dangerous Woman" (song) is a masterpiece and one of the greatest song of all time. So you see... That's not about her as a woman, that's really about the song itself. And now she's one of the biggest singer in the world.

I'm practically sure that if "Focus" was a sang by a man it would have flopped even harder...

It's not her best song and at least going back to re-formulate things led to one of her greatest ever songs but the fact she had to do that in the first place likely wouldn't have been demanded if she were male. Of course it would've flopped if a man had sang it because it's clearly a woman's song, so that's not the point. I've seen many a male artist throw out the same formula for single after single and no one says a word. If a woman tries it just once, it's like, back into the studio and give us something more creative, you're not pulling a fast one of us, little lady!

It was to show how your example didn't make sense. :ally:

Btw didn't you just say that a song's quality should not be affected by the artist's gender? So why mention 'woman's work'?
