There are nearly 220,500 positive cases statewide, and the test positivity rate has been above 14 percent for more than a week. Adding to the trouble, hospitals across the state are running out of beds in the intensive care units, although state officials say there is still plenty of capacity and hospitals have the ability to add surge beds. According to a state dashboard from the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), hospitals have less than 15 percent ICU capacity available. Statewide, 42 hospitals have no ICU beds available, though that number is down from the 56 hospitals reported on Tuesday. DeSantis has refused to release data on daily hospitalizations, despite pledging to do so. Florida is one of the only states that doesn't publicly release that information. The AHCA tracks bed capacity, and the state Department of Health reports the total number of patients admitted to hospitals, but neither report the number of people actively in a hospital at a given time. Mister G 10,513 Posted July 9, 2020 Share Posted July 9, 2020 They’re not going to shut anything down because Governor DeSantis is a moron and made it clear money was more important than human lives. @River I just read yesterday that Disney World was reopening Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom this weekend with Epcot and Hollywood Studios following next week. What is happening in Florida is a prime indication that these corporate big-wigs don’t give a s*** about anyone unless there’s a financial profit.
