What significance does their age difference have?

I just think celebrity men pursue younger women because they feel older women have too much ‘baggage’ (among lots of other reasons) but don‘t take into consideration that they (younger women) can be lacking in maturity/have lots of issues as well.

She is clearly a narcissist and needs a LOT of therapy. He would benefit from some as well as he clearly does have substance abuse problems (I remember he was having financial issues recently and he spent a ridiculous amount of money on wine?).

It explains it here and also shows text messages where Johnny says the injury to his finger was self inflicted.

To protect her

Here's the audio of Amber cutting his finger and Johnny being very upset about it. Doctors hurry and even ask whether they should give Amber some medication. One doctor is heard saying "She did it, she knows exactly what shes doing, she feels guilty"

That happened in Australia

By the way Johnny said in another leaked audio that he kept protecting her but won't anymore. She even admits that she beat him up with the door of their bathroom and he asked why she did that to him. She also says in an audio leaked that nobody will believe he's abused because he's a man

I timestamped it for you !

My 8th grade teacher (I'm now a Senior, that's how long this story's been around) was as feminist as they come and the first thing she said to me about it was "this is why women don't come forward, but Johnny Depp has a lot more money than Amber Heard" and made this face :ohwell:

I don't know much about it, but I do know I've yet to see proof of Johnny Depp's alleged abuse, and nobody else has ever or did after Heard did, accused Depp of this type of behavior in his whole career

Thanks I'll check it out because I'm not clued up on the newer information and I've been going by what I learnt at the time when the court battle was happening.

It just seems to me that people want her to be guilty and I don't think he's 100% innocent in all this.

I don’t think the issues they had are because of her age, though. Or that age always corresponds with maturity. Mental illness/substance abuse doesn’t discriminate. She was also already in her 30’s when they got together.

I mean imo it’s a combination of age, celebrity status, and mental illness. A lot of famous people tend to be emotionally underdeveloped/immature for longer bc of their fame. I really believe a relationship with a woman closer to his age would have been much healthier as a result.

He's called her a petulant child in the past and the things he's accusing her of seems like petulant behaviour to me. The kind of thing you do to retaliate when you think the other person has been an ass. I don't condone this behaviour but I don't think it falls into the 'abuse' category. I personally think his alcoholism is alot to blame for what happened between them. He doesn't remember alot of what happened because he wasn't mentally coherent. There's the incident where a security guard had to confirm that he kicked her the night before and he cried when he'd found out what he'd done.

I personally don't think either of them are innocent in all this. I get the impression that they pissed each other off and would push each other to the limit. She knew how to push his buttons and he was a horrible drunk who was mean to her.

I don't feel right saying she's not a victim because I wasn't there but it's a fact that he was a nasty drunk and she had to put up with alot of his crap. There was video evidence that showed what he was like and she did win the court case after all. I get why he wants to clear his name because in some ways he was a victim too but he's largely to blame for what happened because he wasn't in a right state of mind for the majority of their relationship.

I get your point but it's all about intent. If you deliberately do bad stuff to someone, you're the most guilty one. I don't think anyone would deny it was a toxic relationship but it's clear one had more intention than the other. I don't know if you read the rest of the article I provided but he goes into detail about what their relationship was like before the abuse even started. He said there were a lot of red flags that he just ignored because he fell so hard for her beauty and interest in him. Already this sounds like a classic case of manipulation. He then says she essentially love bombed him, which is the next classic stage. She also claimed in the early days that she loved his films but later admitted that she hadn't seen any of them which is probably the worst red flag before abuse starts, so you'd better get the hell outta there. And he says they also sought the help of a marriage counseller at one stage who told him that she had "a borderline, toxic narcissistic personality disorder and is a sociopath." If a professional tells you that point blank to your face, you know you're in trouble. It's also worth noting that she was arrested for allegedly hitting ex-partner, Taysa van Ree, even though Tasya defended her and said the whole thing has been blown out of proportion. But it seems she has previous.

One is clearly worse than the other, though. A lot worse.

So true. They also pursue them because they're so charmed by beauty and sexuality when it comes from younger women. Gold-digging wouldn't be so common if this weren't a thing. I've seen it happen right in front of me before how young women are like catnip to older men. Why they can't see they're getting manipulated is anyone's guess. I suppose it can happen with older women and toyboys too, although less common. You'd think by now men would have grown wise to this old trick and realise that so few of these massive age gap relationships work out. They have to learn the hard way, it seems.

But the most sensational revelation from Depp was that he decided to divorce Heard after faeces was left in their bed. In a written statement, the actor said Heard or 'possibly one of her friends' was responsible for the incident, but claimed she dismissed it as 'just a harmless prank', and he said it was the final straw in their deteriorating marriage.

I would be this pissed too if I was living with a vile woman like her.

Johnny seems like such a calm and collected dude. The **** he has to put up with must be horrible if it led to an incident like this

I hate how she has become the token girl for “women are liars and manipulators”  argument from misogynists. With her lies, she single handedly made it worse for abused women :selena:

Hopefully people are intelligent enough not to put everyone in the same bag... Which is something we do way too often in this day & age.

How he ever thought it would be a good idea to leave the mother of his children for this nut job is beyond my understanding. Some people can really have the strangest hold on you. I'm so happy to be single tbh :triggered:

Domestic violence cases with women being the abusers should be taken more seriously :saladga:

Tbh. There's still a strong idea that because the average woman is weaker they therefore get a pass to hit or whatever. It doesn't make it ok

That being said in terms of serious abuse I'm sure cases of a woman abusing a men must be a small fraction of overall cases

I've known of at least 3 cases of physical abuse against women personally I don't know of any where it was the other way around.

Emotionally, that's another story, I think that can go pretty equal both ways

God Control

It really is a terrible situation because we often advise to believe women and victims because they’re often vulnerable and oppressed and it takes them a huge amount of bravery to come forward. Meanwhile, those who take advantage of this and lie are not only ruining innocent men’s lives but devaluing their truthful statements of real victims.
