Jaden Smith goes off on Shane Dawson after willow poster video goes viral

Willow is Jaden's sister and Jada's daughter – of course they're not going to laugh this off. They have every right to be furious in spite of Shane's apology, and Willow even more so.

I don't care about cancelling him or not because I didn't even know who he was before this (same with Jenna Marble). But if Willow were my sister or daughter, you can bet I'd be pissed and unforgiving too.

You need to seek help if you’re still supporting this man. That’s it.

My. Lawyer. Liked. That.

I somewhat agree. Honestly, if it’s anyone’s time to be cancelled, it’s Jeffree’s. I’m so over him. Shane needs a slice of humble pie though :trollga:

I agree but Jeffree needs the whole pie:awesome:

Why are people still talking about him after the cat thing? How much longer are people gonna keep trying to cancel him? He’s already cancelled himself from making those types of jokes and it’s held up. Plus it’s not like these jokes are being made today chile. What is the end goal, him going Jenna Marbles? Y’all hated that bc she’s clearly grew as a person + clearly if he quit youtube, Twitter still still talk about him.

Something I wanna say in general about this... So, when I was Willow's age and younger, some grown men groomed and molested me, and also touched themselves around me, in some instances doing similar to what Shane's doing in that clip. Idk if 'offended' is the right word for what I'm feeling, but I'm gonna call his clip gross and stupid and piggish and crass and disrespectful of Willow. Obviously lots of people have been groomed and molested as a child like I had been, but not everyone is gonna say that's why they're offended, or even announce that they're offended in the first place -- they might not be comfortable talking about their abuse, or having people ask them questions like "well how does it affect you? why do you care so much?" We see sh*t like this and it can bother us but we don't always want to risk being put on the spot about our abuse by Shane's defenders and random nosy people. It's private and it hurts, so sometimes (really, a lot of times) we don't say much, if at all.

Also, Jaden and Jada are clearly upset... let them be upset. They and Willow have more of a right to be p*ssed off than anyone right now, and I think some of you need reminded that they're not obligated to accept an apology or forgive. (not 'you' as in the person I quoted, I mean others on this site)

I'm so sorry for what happened to you.

I agree completely. And Shane does too. That video is disgusting, and he realized that some time ago. That's why he took it off.

You have all the right to feel 'offended', uncomfortable, and upset by it. And so does Willow and her family.

No one has to accept his apology, as he himself said. He understands that some things are unforgivable. All he can do is try to be a better person from it.

We should try to act humanly and rationally at the same time. He is a human like everyone else, and makes mistakes like all of us. If it's something punishable by law, then let law deal with it. If law isn't being enforced, then make sure it is. If it is something that should be punishable by law, and it isn't yet, then work towards making it so. But don't turn Twitter into the modern ages witch-hunting grounds, specially when the people involved have clearly changed the way they think from how they used to think in the past.

There's so much racist, misogynistic, homophobic, and other inappropriate content being posted RIGHT NOW in 2020 on Twitter, and most of those get away with it, being ignored by the Twitter community just because they are not from successful public figures. If we want things to change now, we have to tackle these problems that are happening right now, and that are coming from people like our governors, our neighbors, our friends, or even our own families. What's in the past can't be changed, so all we can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again in the future.

Just a final advice is to not "hate-watch" anyone. If you don't like someone or their content, you should definitely avoid them, or even block them from your life. They are not worth your mental health and stress. If they're doing something illegal, read the paragraph above about law enforcing. This is for everyone, not just you specifically @PEZ

Some of y'all do not seem to understand that once you put something on Internet, ESPECIALLY if you are a famous content creator, it is there FOREVER. If the thing you put seems to offend people, no amount of apologies may take it back.

While I do think the "cancel culture" is real and people TRY to find stuff to cancel people about, it doesn't change the fact that some other people may be justifiably angry about anything they may put out.

So, how do we cancel "cancel culture" while also holding people accountable with regards to their offensive content? This is the question we should be talking about tbh. For example, if it was anyone I personally know Shane was lusting over even jokingly, I would be mad and nothing he could say or do would change that. I am still mad that someone thought of something that depraved AND put it on the net, but there is some degree of separation between me and that because it is not personal. Does this, then, give me the right to "cancel" him? It probably does, especially in the cases where the content in question is absolutely injustifiable like this.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

I don't care if people can say he's "changed" it's still the fact that he thought this was ok to do at some point in time.

These things are coming to light and rightfully so.

These things are coming to light for the fifth time not that i excuse it but its just getting kind of tiring to see shane getting canceled over things he adressed so many times and i think its time to direct this energy towards jeffree star because he is long overdue for his cancel treatment

I get it, and he also made that point in his video too. But its never ending. People will always take what he done in the past and be like "omg shane dawson is disgusting". Its absolutely people's choice to accept or not accept an apology... but at this point we all know he made jokes that were homophobic, racist, paedophilia etc. It shouldn't be shocking at this point.

He did address everything, so its not like we don't know he made those jokes or said those things to be shocking.

I love his content. The way he does his documentary series (with Andrew) is pretty cool. I do believe he has changed and that the person he was 5+ years ago is not the same person today... obviously I can't say and its not my place to say that he has changed his views on POC, but I think actions speak louder than words and I'm pretty sure he's been vocal about BLM, and has said to include more black creators in his series. I also believe in 2nd chances in people, and a lot of the things being dragged up is things we already knew about and already talked about (as a society).

To see a "new" thing being dragged up almost every other week is just a little ridiculous to me. Since he already has addressed it... like what more can he do? Its just a bit tiring... maybe I'm looking at this wrong, idk

I get where you're coming from, and I respect your choice to continue supporting him. That's valid. That said, just because we've seen it happen before, doesn't mean it's any less gross now. It's just more. and more things being uncovered, and understandably, people are upset about. it. There's not much more than can be done in terms of """""""cancelling""""""" him, so I get your frustration, but I think the people talking about it are moreso voicing their frustration with those who choose to still support him, rather than Shane himself.

I feel that calling people out from their past mistakes may be an accountability thing. But cancelling people for something they did 10 years ago is mob mentality. People needing to cancel someone stems from envy because these people remain famous due to their actions gain profit from it. If you wanna cancel someone, then it's your personal choice to stop following that person's content for the rest of "your" life but stop trying to make everyone else think they shouldn't follow him either. This is like Christians telling you that you should believe in God and Jesus because they claimed to have their personal experience with God and Jesus so they want you to get that experience as well.

I do believe that Shane should remove these contents from his channel instead of continuing to profit from it. That was why what Gaga did with DWUW is commendable. She wiped it off from her official channels so that she wouldn't profit from it and so that he-who-shall-not-be-named can't profit from it either. As long as his current actions are sensible, you can still follow his content. Just don't defend his past actions.
