How is this allowed though, It's a global pandemic! I feel so sorry for all the Americans who have to deal with this, The situation is scary enough but you guys have to deal with it being politicized to the point where it will cause more people to die...

Testing won't be made mandatory in states because state governments don't even believe in the threat and even if the president wanted to make it mandatory, it would be a huge battle over states rights. You can try to educate these people all you want, but they'll still not believe it and run with what their friends say on FB. 

 

I agree Trump has set a terrible precedent, but it's also a matter of media coverage and the normalization of day to day activities again. 

There’s your problem right there. There’s what.. 104,000 dead in 4 months in the states? There’s nothing suggesting this virus is slowing down in America, it seems to be spiking massively again. Yet the ‘leaders’ in America aren’t believing the threat. It’s an actual nightmare. Any state leader who doesn’t enforce mandatory testing in virus hotspots at least is no leader at all. It’s not subjecting anyone to harm, it shouldn’t be an issue. God knows they have the funds to make it possible. 

Education starts with good teachers.. unfortunately America is being educated by people who have no idea. That’s why people turn to social media. There’s no attempt being made there to deal with the virus, let alone recover from it by Trump & Co.

Day to day activities won’t be completely normal until a vaccine is developed / a type of Herd Immunity is established (& there’s no guarantee with that last point).

We're just starting to see things get under control here and my city is 75% reopened including bars because cases are so low.

There's no doubt going to continue to be spikes in new cases in the States because of stuff like this, as well as the crazy conspiracy people in Florida claiming masks are against their civil rights and that they're going to die if they wear them

most places are open but there's a lot of restrictions still in place (masks required at most places, spacing in line-ups, only X amount of people in a shop at one time) most bars are still closed here and the malls are mostly dead because the seating areas in the food courts are still closed and most of the smaller stores haven't reopened, but things are mostly back to normal besides that. Yesterday we had only 65 cases and that's out of a city of 400,000

I think Canada would be wise to disallow visitors from the USA to enter for quite a while longer.

All of Ontario had only 111 new cases in the last 24h a Province of almost 14 Million. Canada as a whole i forget the exact number but it's been below 400 every day

 

Definitely don't want US border open again screwing up our progress

 

Even Adjusting for size of population the US still has a rate of new cases per capita that is 10X to 12X higher than in Canada

Is 65 active cases I presume?

 

Cuz we only got 111 new cases in all of Ontario and I doubt half of them would be in London

yeah theres only 59 as of yesterday in London with one new case in a long-term care home, things are beginning to slow down thank God. I really hope we don't have a major second wave like places in the States have been seeing.

I agree. I heard borders are reopening in July but I can't confirm that for sure.

I really think we could benefit from just slowly reopening provincial borders and then reopening the border with the States later on in the Autumn once things get more under control there.
