Because depending on where they were, it could be statutory rape :selena:

We don't know where they were, right? 17 may be the age of consent in her state, but where did the incident happen? As far as I know, we don't know that information.

I'm confused... I thought he raped her by forcing himself on her.

So easy for people to scream RAPE here. :triggered:

Just because we have doubt regarding the "victim's story," it's automatically make us disgusting human beings. :triggered:

He did, according to her, but we don’t know where that happened. It seems like—from what I’m inferring from her story—they met up somewhere. I mean, why would Ansel take all the time out of his day to go over to her house? Depending on where she was, he might’ve needed to fly over there or something.

Unless something new came out, she never specified where they were. I’m just assuming here.

In sexual assault cases, to be honest, I think we should act like it’s true and then figure out if it’s fake or not. 2-10% of reported sexual assault cases are fake. She’s more than likely telling the truth.

She could be that 2-10% who ruined someone's life by lying tho. All of his hard work could be ruined by this accusation. Have you guys ever think about it?

Just because some of us being rational for having a little doubt, doesn't make us horrible and disgusting human being.

1.the age of consent in the US is 18, as far as i’m aware. not consent.

2.rape can take many forms, and forceful language/intimidation/positions of power being used as leverage (such as anel’s in this case) absolutely lead to rape. putting pressure on someone is not consent.

3.she was sobbing and in pain, and he did jack ****

It's 16 in my state :vegas:

Actually here's a neat graphic I found on wikipedia about the age of consent in the US.

Blue is 16

Olive is 17

Green is 18

Sure, technically, she could be in that 2-10%, but like I said, it's more likely than not that she isn't.

What does she have to gain from all of this? This literally could only end bad for her. Just look at this thread alone. I feel like the majority of people are against her. Even on her Twitter post, there were people shaming her and even calling her "lucky" that she got to be with Ansel. I mean, come on...

Like I said, in sexual assault cases, I personally feel like you need to take them as fact and then work out if it's true or not. 2-10% is a very, very low number. Out of a 100 people that claim they were sexually assaulted, that means at the absolute most around 10 of them are lying.

There is a user here saying that girl is problematic so this should be a point to take into consideration that she's could be lying.

and there is also someone claimed to be her friend that she's doing this for attention. So, there is no need for people to immediately cancel someone and calling it RAPE without having all the facts.

I'm not his fan or anything, I just feel kinda confused by people calling this RAPE or pedo so damn easy.

I didn't read through this entire thread, but if she is doing this for attention or whatever, that's wrong and she should be punished for that—whatever the consequences may be.

That said, that's also exactly what I said.

In all reported cases of sexual assault, we should see it as true and then figure out what actually happened. If she is lying, then I feel bad for Ansel, but also, I want to hear more from her and Ansel about this. You can be confused as to why people are calling out "RAPE" so easily, but to be honest, I'm more concerned with the people being like, "Yeah, whatever, you're just doing this for attention and none of this is real." This is why most people don't come out with accusations. If this is real, y'all are just torturing her even more.

I'm confused with this story. He said the N word. What does that have to do with rape/sex? Am I missing a part of the story?

If it turn out to be false. Ruining someone's life and career can cause depression and suicide too you know.

Isn't that's what BTW Foundation is all about? Just saying.

Both of those (sexually assault and life ruined by false accusation) are equally damaging.

We don't have all the facts here because we don't know them personally.

So the tweet got deleted, I’ll update OP but here is an article about what happened: www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8441133/amp/Ansel-Elgort-accused-sexually-assaulting-17-year-old-girl-2014-meeting-social-media.html

Based purely on her story, she never actually withdrew consent. Sex is often painful at first, if it’s so painful that you want to stop, you have to let the other person know.

I believe her account, it’s just not really all that damning for him. 17 and 20 is legal in almost every state (If not every state, I’m no expert on the law) so, this ‘pedophile’ thing is really weird.
