Then 7 employees were confirmed positive and also other customers I fear the same might happen where I work, my friend/coworker came to work Sunday and then found out he had COVID the next day. (First thing he did when he saw me Sunday was give me a big hug with his mask off because he hadn't seen me since COVID started) He's a bartender, and the entire shift he was taking down his mask to talk to customers faces less than 2 feet in front of them. A house party in the middle of a pandemic? Seriously? So many frontliners have already died from contracting the virus from their patients. Until last week, there had been 4 total cases in the region since the beginning of the pandemic. Just this past Sunday they detected 4 new cases, which obviously rose suspicions, and started investigations. It was very easy to put the stories together and discover they'd all been to the party. Since they were detected, they have tested over 1500 people in the area, starting by those who directly attended the party, and then the ones they had contact with. They are still testing over 250 people a day JUST focusing on this event alone. 2 of them were still working at a supermarket (one of them was the director!), possibly causing dozens if not hundreds of new infections that we will only know about in a couple weeks. Right now there's 6 people from this event hospitalized, none of them in the ICU yet. It's not only about the irresponsible people that attended the party, it's about people around them that can possibly not be able to resist it. There's already 9 children detected that got them from their parents who attended, even though they themselves obviously didn't. And from there, it's really easy to pass it onto someone who can visit/work at a nursing home and possibly kill dozens of old people. It's Portugal after all, there's old people everywhere, and they tend to not understand very well complex concepts such as virus spreading and desinfection, which puts them even at a higher risk of spreading it between them once one gets it. If you think news are fake just because the numbers they report are "scary", maybe it's because they really are scary. Fortunately we still have relatively reliable news sources in Portugal, when compared to most countries. There was even a section of the news during lockdown that was dedicated to debunking fake news and fact-checking things going around on the internet. Of course there will always be some reports that exagerate or hide details for more clicks/views, but not everything is fake news around here, unlike the US and Brazil...
