RudraCNG 14,968
I love FN, but it's a much more "safe" album than Chromatica is. Had Gaga released it, I would have feel a bit disappointed. Also, FN has 3 skip songs, while Chromatica has none Spoiler Actually 1000 Doves is a skip, but I replaced it with the piano version and pretended the original one doesn't exist
WildSalome 988
Gaga has never and will never settle to dilute her voice and sound to make it more digestible for a wide audience solely for commercial success. Chromatica is THE pop album that allows her to showcase her vocals as well as the true rawness of her lyrics. Dua's lyrics are fine for what they are but lack depth. FN's main goal is to re-commericialize a throwback sound and does the job of doing just that. A Gaga album will always be special and personal because it allows us to enter the chapter in her life that she's currently in. Not many other artists have that to provide their fans other than tracks to slap their name on. If you want to stan a perfect and pristine popstar go ahead and stan Dua. Just don't call Gaga's vocals "ugly" or "harsh" just because she doesn't fit the mold you want her to be in.
selenalavigne 1,433
i don't really feel moved by either. but i've definitely had the urge to replay FN more. Chromatica doesn't have much replay value for me idk why. Ready to Stan LG7

You mean her debut album from 12 years ago that satirized the image of the popstar and the shallowness of pristine celebrity culture in general? The Fame in itself is an album that celebrates and observes plastic dance pop music that's INTENDED to sound bubblegum. And also she was 19-21 when she recorded it so naturally her voice would sound much younger? Do you guys not understand the context of the content informs the delivery of the work? Also~ no one was making dance pop music at that time so it was RISK for her label to approve the album's sound. There was a literal hip hop version of Just Dance made for radio that ultimately didn't make the cut.
joannesrats 26
The vocals on the album fit perfectly. She's releasing her pain, if it's too theatrical for you then...oh well
ShtoopidLahv 710
I agree. Gaga’s voice is a little unnecessarily, purposefully overbearing sometimes. It’s that weird Dope voice coming back. It makes the Spur Candy chorus less enjoyable imo. Tbh Blackpink save the song imo. They’re enjoyable to listen to. That being said some songs need these oversung Gaga vocals. Like they MAKE the song in Enigma. Replay’s chorus hits so hard as well because of that vocal style. But I do wish she sang the album as she did in Babylon’s verses and Alice’s chorus more often. I prefer those vocals as the main style and I think she should use those oversung ones more sparingly. I get what you’re saying and it’s a large part of why I frequently go back to Future Nostalgia. Dua Lipa is playing it safer with the vocals and Gaga is definitely less palatable in that regard which is why I love her brand of pop music.
