axelwolf 114
I'll make this quick, I'll be honest, first listen I wasn't blown away (sonically) however, lyrically I was blown because I could somewhat see the creativity and intelligence behind the craft. How Gaga and fellow lyricists simplified very complex issues we all experience into a dance song reminds me of TFM because when Gaga first came onto the scene, originally people said she couldnt sing due to the studio affects on her vocals, then she sang on TFM and her lyricism was in question then BTW came out and then her creativity was under question. So many of us wanted FameGa back but we have her back but a matured version, a version who has lived a new chapter. This album was for the gays, there's no piano ballads, no country, all pure dance records with very deep meanings. This is Gaga's art, this is Bowie's influence on her work. It takes real mindfulness and intelligence to not only put your pain into words but to simplify it so the GP can relate takes something very special. Maybe it speaks to the "new" normal we are living in, perhaps it shows how so many of us can relate to the same pain. I know this post has probs turned deeper than what it was supposed to but what drew me to Gaga is how she saw the craftsmanship in creating not just a hit but a song that will be remembered. She wasn't preachy but she was this blonde intelligent chick who could dress that also wrote amazing pop records. Pop music is shallow, it's escapism, Gaga incorporated this with real subjects. That's art. That's being a real human. Chromatica is a much welcome return; it shows how much Gaga was made for not only the dance floor but to speak to many of us through interesting and avant garde metaphors. Like the bible, many can read the texts but only a few will truly understand what they're reading. AxelWolf

pop ate my heart 2,865
this concept of simplifying a deep, complex message to the point that is relatable (POP) but remaining very artistic, creative and campy in terms of poetry and visuals (ART) is what ARTPOP is ALL about. It's her art form, the way she makes art (although not only her. Most of Bowie's work is like this). Literally a reverse of Warhol. And most stans called all this pretentious when in fact, they didn't get it at all. Once you get it and manage to see all Gaga's work since the beginning through this perspective, it all becomes a lot clearer and more beautiful than ever am i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-e-i-p-plastic

Honestly I think it's more like TFM+ARTPOP instead of BTW; the theme of TFM's song each dealing with a fear of Gaga's that she had during TF/The Fame Ball Tour is a perfect parallel to Chromatica's theme of dancing through pain and suffering - BUT I do think it definitely has a splash of BTW's visuals mixed in ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴏʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱɪʟᴠᴇʀ ᴅʀᴇᴀᴍ ϟ†▽✰𝒿 ~Ɐ
Cherry Blues 349
Its a lot of work what Gaga does. She writes and creates her music. We listen to her soul wrapped in pop. Everyone can say what they want but she really is a true musician and will be one of the biggest legends in music history.
