It builds up and up and then nothing happens. I feel like that's kinda the point though.... Like, at first when you just look at the song title, you think it's going to be a really fun, upbeat, energetic song about partying and having fun all night and whatever, but when you actually listen to the lyrics, it's dark and grim. It's quite the opposite of what you'd expect it to be. I feel like the song building up is making you anticipate for a big banger line like "I'M HAVING FUN TONIGHT" or "WE'RE HAVING FUN TONIGHT!" but it's the opposite. She's not having fun tonight. Maybe externally she wants to have fun, she wants to just be with her friends and hang out or whatever, but she can't. It's like she's building herself up to have a fun night, but then the reality sets in and things turn dark and depressing real quick. "This moment's hijacked my plans" means that she was having fun and she was having a good time, but then all of a sudden a wave of saddness and depression hits that stops her from completely just letting loose.
