clamydia is 100% curable i dont see what the big deal is. sti’s shouldnt be so stigmatized unless you dont have sex you cant say anything lol. unless its probably expensive in the US to cure

A moment of silence for the person on set who had to touch the peach while filming CMBYN.

Out of all the threads I thought I'd read today this certainty was NOT IT.

I will say, I'm trying to end the stigma and I always will admit I've had it before. I got it from a long term boyfriend in college and there were zero symptoms/it was cured by taking one pill. Who knew how long I had it for. I stress to people it's v important to get tested frequently.

Not everyone has multiple sexual partners :poot: if you have sex with one person and suddenly have an SDI it’s safe to say who gave it to you.

This is literally it. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the pie.

Some STI’s are incurable like HSV1/2 and HIV. HSV hasn’t got the same level of attention or treatment as HIV and in my view probably just as much emotional toll on the person or even worse as it shows physical symptoms and scaring.

I feel like I live under a rock sometimes. Who is that and why is this something the public needs to discuss? :enigma:

I know others have responded already, but if you haven't seen it, I cannot recommend his film Call Me By Your Name highly enough - easily one of my favorite films ever. Sweet, romantic, and gently heartbreaking!!

ya of course i’m just saying unless someone purposely passes it to someone it shouldnt be like something to hold over someone’s head. unfortunately very few people get tested after every partner and wait the required time to become active again. and its not like anyone’s patient zero with these anymore. like timothee didnt invent clamydia and spread it around purposely

edit: just because an sti has no cure doesnt mean it should be stigmatized. safe sex doesnt even guarantee protection from them and a lot of people dont have access to prep.

This is why I haven’t slept around, you never know who you’re going to bed with :vegas:

same here. i have nothing against sleeping around - and I wish I could have a h0e phase, but my last boyfriend got gonorrhea shortly after we broke up, and then came crawling back to me a month after i dumped him and i took him back, THEN he tested pos bc he was an idiot and didnt get tested after hooking up with 3 people in a week before contacting me asking to get back together bc he was allegedly "missing me like crazy" :nooo: (though i dumped him again shortly afterwards bc he was still texting other guys)

i remember the panic that week when i was getting my results back, thankfully i was negative for everything (and let me tell u i had everything tested), but it really put it into perspective how easy it is to catch something in these streets. ive only has 5 sexual partners in my life and 4/5 were boyfriends (long term, monogamous) so i usually felt safe. but that scare showed me how important it is to be aware of your STD/STI status.

everyone make sure you regularly get tested if youre active with multiple partners!! and make sure u get tested when u are leaving/entering a relationship!!!

i can't vouch for what it's like in the US, but where I live (Ontario, Canada) it's free to get treatment at a health clinic for most STIs/STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc. I think HIV/AIDs requires actual medication but I don't know so can't say for that.

I agree that it shouldn't be stigmatized - but people NEED to be getting tested, too many people are lazy and lax with that or assume they can trust people's words and take hella risks, it is so easy to accidentally catch something from someone you don't know had something (they might not even know they have something - bc they haven't been tested).

chlamydia may be curable, thank god, but STDs/STIs can damage your body long term if you don't get them treated ASAP or have other underlying conditions. For most people, you'll be fine, but some people's immune systems are more at risk.
