Why do y'all think Gaga collabed with BLACKPINK and Ari?

She has a K-Pop group open for her before....and isn't BlackPink somehow affiliated with UMG when it comes to the US market? Anyway, even if she did it for the streams...who cares?

I read somewhere sum gaga said. Sum about how she thought the 7 rings vs shallow competition was fun and she invited her over :billie: I’m sure that’s not the only reason but it’s a reason :vegas:

as for BLACKPINK, RANDOM. But didn’t Madison Love (one of the writers) already have them in mind?

Majority of the fanbase have been wanting Gaga to collab with her peers and not just her seniors. Lots of current Gaga fans are teenagers and people in their 20s and early to mid 30s. These people are reacting more positively to the current artists than artist of the pasts, as cool as it is. So I am glad that Gaga give some of this collab to them.

But anyway, you did the mistakes some others did by trying to put Gaga in one box. It's been 10+ years since she started her career, as a fan you should know enough by now to never ever do that, as Gaga is ever evolving.

Gaga was just so legendary in the past that whenever I see her now there's always a favoritism for what she's done before. You are so right in saying that Gaga is ever evolving and that she shouldn't be viewed and judged with a particular bias. I guess the bias subconciously comes out because of how iconic she was from the very start.

It's very strategic. It's very smart and I won't fault her for that. It's just pop music lol. BUT, I know that Gaga can top herself with her own visceral prowess. I know that she's a talented beast.

Well what's wrong with changing your own mind? She's not in the same headspace as she was back then. Maybe she just wants to have fun?

And kpop is not that bad as some of you make of it. If you only gave it a chance :lolly:

Oh no.

I guess today is my crucifixion. :messga:

BLACKPINK, while not being in the best company, is one of the numerous K-Pop artists that aren't manufactured.

They are given chances to show their talents and is given what they want, and the company is very fair with their shares, giving them 50-90% of their total balances.

We still need Jisoo acting though, but the others were now given solo projects.

Also for the fans who are reading this:

Yes, YG confirmed it this time. She wasn't only doing one song, it was a whole mini album.

I'm like some kind of supernova

I watched a video yesterday talking about this, like at this point it's pretty obvious that Chromatica was designed to be commercially successful.

So basically : BLACKPINK's asian fans, very dedicated fanbase
Ariana Grande : american fans, very successful at the moment
Elton John : european fans + something for the GP that she seduced during her jazz/classics covers/Joanne/ASIB era

Expanding audience reach with an album designed to be commercially palatable?

Not necessarily a bad thing, nor disingenuous. Just obvious.

As much as I love ROM and Sour Candy, I still can't wrap my head around why Gaga wanted to collab with these girls. I kinda get why she'd collab with Ari but BLACKPINK is just so random. I always thought that Gaga would collab with people she had a great creative affinity with and is highly inspired by. Gaga's stated before that she'd only collab with someone once she's fully gotten to know the artist and know where they are at mentally. (Hence why the collab with Cher got cancelled) A collaboration with a K-Pop group just seems like she's pandering for streams instead of trying to make art. Why would Gaga who detests manufactured pop artistry, want to work with K-Pop? I might get dragged for this but I don't know much about Korean pop culture. I do know that idols from Korea sign "slave contracts" and are manufactured to the core. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Same reason any artist would collaborate with others, pushing sales. Madonna did it (though arguably far later in her career), Kylie did it, Christina did it. Let’s not pretend it’s some form of superior artistic goal.

She probably chose Ariana, but Blackpink was a label suggestion.

The song turned out great, but there’s no denying it was a label game to introduce BP to the US
