hmm idk about that... i feel like atheists and others use that same line to establish some sort of self-superiority and justification. each religion may have a few bad apples but that can be said about humanity in general. religion has benefits in certain contexts too — i used to volunteer at the icu and a lot of hospital workers noted that people spiritual beliefs/religion often make the hospice/dying process much easier for the elder/family members. i think a world without religion could have been possibly worse. i think it's better if we all practice what we want as long as it doesn't impact others and i certainly try to live by that. but being judgemental and questioning people's religious choices most of the times is counterintuitive and only spreads hate.

"Alejandro" may not be as sophisticated a song as "Dance in the Dark", but it resulted in one of the most daring and ground-breaking collaborations of her career, which is the music video shot by Steven Klein. 

It is hard to describe the effect which the video produced from the "today" time point. Imagine this: YouTube was lagging because everybody was checking it out to see what sort of video could make everybody so shocked or hyped or pissed. The video was her first truly "shocking" music video. Paparazzi, Bad Romance and Telephone carried the "extravagant" and "flamboyant" vibes, but the collaboration with Steven Klein on an innocent beach-style summer hit in such a twisted, sinister and referential way elevated her to the unprecedented level of discussion. The press was discussing her right to push the envelope and her attitude towards religious and sexual taboos, her peers were either bashing her or praising her, the fans DID NOT SEE this coming. It was precisely this video that turned her from entertainer to pop royalty (and the Monster Ball Tour, of course); she became the subject of culture studies.

The song was HUGE in Germany peaked on #2 (blocked by Waka Waka in World Cup Season) and was literally everywhere back then everyone I knew was loving this song 

in fact it was the BEST choice

Honestly tho, I remember back in 2010 after hearing Telephone on the radio, I was predicting DITD would be the next one I’d hear. Then years later when I joined this site I saw that Interscope chose DITD for the third single but before they sent it to radios, Gaga sent Alejandro to radios behind their back or something. She robbed us of the best third single  jk Alejandro is still iconic and remembered so it’s okay

here’s what i’ll say:

if it helps you personally and youre not trying to push it on anyone else, it’s fine. do whatever you want, it’s nobody’s business.

overall, i just dont like the way religion is used as an excuse for ignorance. it’s fully a part of the US law and various other laws, so it’s not just some “bad apples”. also the concept is kinda idiotic but that’s besides the point
