PartySick 161,538 Posted June 12, 2020 Share Posted June 12, 2020 Maybe it's because I was raised in the South but plantation style houses don't automatically make me think of slavery it's like a Southern Victorian built for the climate here. They're really nice looking and what little connection or "roots" I feel to Southern America is in some of those houses as part of the whole...package...or whatever. The town North of mine is full of them all spaced out with fields of animals and crops easily the second best spot in Florida, right after the gator infested swamps around the Space Center I sound like one of those grandma's that's like "when I was young, this was ALLLL orange grove!" I mean, I get the connection, I just think this is a bit OTT. They were literally on nobody's radar.
