They’ve written a new bill that will be passed in the house... buuuuuut it will likely not be presented on the senate floor and IF passed in the senate, trump won’t sign it. So it’s the end until we get a new senate and president. not directed at you but to all the negative people, do you vote?

It would be powerful if any of those people would commit to defunding the police. Maybe to those people it might be a corny performance, but for me as a black person it’s powerful. Among some of the things that this bill is introducing is limiting military grade weaponry to law enforcement, makes it easier to prosecute police misconduct and provides grants for creating community based task forces to develop better public safety measures. If I’m not wrong then these are some of the things that this bill and defunding the police have in common. But obviously I still support defunding police. Numerous black organizations are supporting this bill including the NAACP, the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, the Black Millennial Convention, and the National Urban League. I fully support this bill.

But ANYTHING politicians do is seen as skeptical sooo, especially nowadays... 🤷🏾♂️ Only if the left can’t scrape together it’s sloppy messaging about what defunding/abolishing the police actually is: a great idea that calls for compassion and not lawlessness. StarstruckIllusion 53,580
An anti chokehold bill is cute, but it’s crumbs compared to what is needed. Democrats need to stop doing the bare minimum to calm down protests... there’s a deeper issue here. I need to see more action taken worldwide. Give the working class just enough to keep them from uprising against the elite, but never enough for them survive comfortably. An exercise in pacification. Buddy 5,686
If they're not going to use their positions of power to fight tooth and nail for policy that leads to systemic change then they can go **** themselves. Symbolic gesture photo ops are not going to cut it anymore. We see through that headassery in 2020.
Buddy 5,686
Didn't read about the anti-chokehold bill. I'll take back what I said for now. I better see them fighting for it, though, because now is the time.

HorusRa2 5,005
Political theater is not enough. Effectively, black people in our country are second-class citizens by the inherent nature of our government and institutions. This is wrong and taking a knee isn't changing that. And the bill they are introducing is literally the bare minimum that can be done and should not be accepted as enough.
