The biggest problem with Trump is that he's a flaming racist, Kanye has decades of activism and charity under his belt for disadvantaged people that will not be erased by bitter gays. Kanye never said "I support Trump's racism." Because he doesn't. We know that when he met Trump he pushed his wife's political agenda and also pushed the issue of what's become of Chicago's slums and the people living there. Going to people in power and using your platform for what's right is the kind of activism that made me love Gaga in the first place.

However first and foremost what we won't do is erase a black man's voice on these issues, in a thread about $2m in donations toward it no less. You should feel bad for calling Kanye a bad man in this context. Very shameful. :enigma:

I see what you mean but his support towards Trump which showed MANY times he's not good for black Americans is just so contradictory and so out of this world. I mean he doesn't have to show his support towards democrats but showing support towards Trump was truly not it for him as a black male. He is problematic and he himself has quite a few racist remarks like when he said "slavery was a choice"... I hope he is being honest with this donation and I truly hope this is not only because he didn't want to be cancelled.

There’s a difference between being performative and actually presenting money which is actually valuable and necessary in this situation. You should know that most of the people who posted a black square posted nothing else for the past week. I’m not saying everyone has to announce their donation, but donations are tangibly bailing out innocent people, keeping black businesses alive and rebuilding them, and going to organizations that actually help LGBT black people. Many black activists themselves have even said a black square is useless and diverts from the actual cause.

Getting people on this website to understand this point is futile because most of them are the sort of performatively woke white gay people who clutch their pearls when a black man passes. We've all seen them in real life. Some of the people in this thread were genuinely upset that Gaga didn't make this issue about herself with an indulgent press release sooner. :lmao:

I don’t know why y’all are personalizing it as if I’m attacking you. If you couldn’t pick up that I was referring to people like him that have a lot of wealth and have more power to make an economic impact than we do, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m saying that he didn’t simply just post BLM, and he actually did something impactful as a celebrity by donating. Y’all would have crucified him regardless if he had donated or not.

I don’t take it personal, I just gave you my situation and asked a question. I still will continue to advocate for the cause.

No one is crucifying him. If you can’t understand why he is getting harsh criticisms after his supporter for Trump, Candace Owens, and saying “slavery was a choice” then I don’t know what to tell you.

I don't really know why you called my statement problematic. I personally think Trump and Biden are both bad men. Biden would be far better for America, but I was merely making a lighthearted joke within the context of their logic.

Good for America =/= good man. Voting for him is for the greater good, but the country is just proving its willingness to vote pedophiles and rapists into power even further. Why is it such a bad thing to critique the status quo?

Because you are sharing propaganda on this forum. Nothing is proven against Biden but Trump himself proved he's a racist piece of **** and he was himself linked to pedophiles. It's a bad thing because someone will read your ignorant statement without any context and will decide not to vote for anyone and we will have Trump in the office for 4 more years.

This is actually rude. I come from a black family but born as a white. I'm deeply offended actually. :triggered: Not everything can be measured by the same yardstick.

Propaganda? I have seen Biden uncomfortably touch little girls and read their facial reactions to him doing it. They were very uncomfortable. I've listened to him say problematic statements before. He even said "Poor kids are just as talented as white kids". A slip of the tongue? Sure, but tongue slips like that make me uncomfortable with the idea of him being president. Sorry it's problematic to not support someone so problematic. God forbid :awkney:

Unless he's gonna stop supporting and enabling Trump, this is cash equivalent of putting bandaid on a gaping wound.

The fact that people get outraged when a person doesn’t feel comfortable supporting Biden is unsettling to me. Based on all we know and have seen in regards to Biden’s behavior and words, he’s actually quite a gross person. He is absolutely comparable to Trump and people have every right as a US citizen to vote for a republican/democrat, third party, or abstain from voting. No one should ever be shamed for not supporting a candidate simply because they’re the presidential nominee.

Kanye made some politically incorrect comments on slavery that were his rightful opinion as much as any other black person in America that got taken out of context and paraded across America by the cancel Kanye brigade who's done this for every politically unpopular statement he's made for 16 years now. Whether it was telling rap culture to stop being homophobic, or pointing out that George Bush jr didn't care about black people or even that he thought an innovative black performer should win a VMA over the definition of white mediocrity, this angry mob has always tried to follow Kanye for being a BLACK thinker with his own thoughts and own point of view. White thinkers like Elon Musk get away with all kinds of wackadoo disrespectful bullshit all the time. :air: Don't let yourself become a part of that agenda, I like you as a member of this community and know you're better than that :vegas:

Kanye has been an activist since the day he had a platform to be one. He's fought for gay people, black people, poor people, mass incarceration, you name an injustice in America, and I can probably point you to Kanye fighting for what's right before it was hip to and over 10 years before sjw culture was starting to form. Again, very shameful to even hint at Yeezy doing this for pr after his track record.

I wholeheartedly hope you're right. Do you think he will continue to support Trump after this? I'm not trying to continue "arguing".. I'm just being curious because you seem like a fan of him and I want to hear your opinion on this.

I've been a Kanye fan since I was a little kid. I don't think he'll stop supporting Trump because he sees a lot of himself in Trump. They're both nearly universally hated people who like to be bold. It was never about actual policy. Can't say that I agree with him but I see where he's coming from. :air:
