That's very true. But a close friendship takes time to form. I think in most cases u should start to notice certain mentalities if ur becoming close friends (as that involves a lot of talking and spending time with)

 

I'm not saying I'd throw them in the trash can so to speak. I think everyone should be respected even if they have problematic views. It's not like I'd totally ignore them or go out of my way to be nasty I think that's taking it too far in my opinion

 

But I'm just saying people like that id rather keep as aquantances (like co-workers) on a need to be basis

 

It also depends on the degree too tho. People can say or think insensitive things sometimes due to lack of knowledge or a mentality that needs to be adjusted. I wouldn't instantly go all "cancel" mode on them because of that other wise ud have to be cutting ppl off constantly.

 

But im talking about genuinely blunt bigots that have very clear opinions based on race (like half the people or more at my new work place). They are genuinely racist/prejudice

Yeah I totally get your point. It reminded of my friend who feels so sad because her dad is far-right/Bolsonaro supporter! 
 

Some of my friends didn’t like it when I “came out” and told them I had a boyfriend and even worse: they said they used to enjoy my friendship better when I was struggling with depression. 
 

Sometimes people are unconsciously mean and so do our friends and family members. We should be the ones to tell them what’s wrong and help them to understand the issue and how to fix it
