I feel that. Toronto is so not conservative as a culture (even though many people actually are) but something about construction/industrial just attracts all the old fashioned people. Luckily my work is overflowing with lgbtq people

Yeah. My work is in Mississauga (tho I live in Brampton).

But yeah construction, the trades or industrial jobs attack the most conservative people for some reason

Not even just the guys that like to be macho but even the ladies that work in the office :air: (maybe they are more comfortable showing their true feelings since coworkers think the same

This is 100% terrible advice.

what is unfriending your online friends gonna do? Nothing. Instead you can try to have a discussion and expose these racist people to issues and hopefully they can see the light. But to just “unfriend” and make the divide wider is dumb af. As if the US wasn’t as divided as EVER right now already.

Locking yourself in a circle of people who have identical views is a huge danger. Having friends with different views sometimes lets us see some truth. Or convince them to ours.
Not every news from democrats newspapers is real and correct.
not every republicans newspaper news is true and correct.

I am so happy she posted about this, I was a little worried given Blake and all.

2nd wave Ska music was a way to bring unity during a time of racial tension in the UK. The black and white checker print clothing was a representation of unity.

I’m a die hard No Doubt fan and because of them I love ska also. This Gwen song is 15 years old and is still rather relevant.

This is so dumb and stupid. We should be educating racists. We should be trying to be empathetic.

Somewhat agree somewhat don't

I'd never be very close friends with someone with that kind of mentality in the first place (unless I genuinely just didn't know). And there's always a certain distance id keep

I wouldn't be rude either back tho or like not talk to them cuz like u said it might add further rift.

If I found out a friend of mine was racist and I started putting a certain distance and they inquired about it, I'd certainly tell them why tho

That’s very unpredictable though. You may become friends with someone and only after that you get to know about problematic idea and behaviors about them. It’s not like people are saying “Hey I’m a racist!” when you first meet them
