Sure, it raises awareness but I do not think thats needed when it is all over the media, everyone in North America knows about this. If it's meant to show solidarity, how about actually discussing and doing something that will actually have an impact - like question why police services have huge budgets and reduce it ultimately, investing more in mental health/addiction services, investing in new training tactics for cops to deescalate a tense situation, remove all statues and memorials associated with racist figures, gun control, etc.... The whole point of Blackout Tuesday is to pause BUSINESS and spend time thinking about what they can do to help, try to find solutions that they can work towards, alongside policy makers. It's not a day off, it's a shift of focus for one day within these companies. What you are suggesting is exactly what they are planning to spend tomorrow working towards. I feel like she should’ve just put up donations and at the same time donate a huge amount. For things to be balance, a spotlight on the BLM movement with her posting petition links and donating, at the same time, her store remaining open so she doesn’t lose thousands of sales. Just a balance of situations. There is no doubt in my mind that Gaga has donated, probably more than all of the kardashians combined if truth be told. First you have to show leaders and those in power that the people are demanding change before you can actually convince them of investing resources and making drastic institutional changes. The music industry is huge and holds great economic power so they definitely have a voice at the table. It’s not like the protesters are marching to destroy sh1t. There are demands from those leading these demonstrations and some of the things you listed are a part of that. Most of what I’ve seen have to do with changing policing practices like funding sustainable programs to build up low income areas rather then increasing funding for PDs. jprince99x 3,547
You guys - chromatica is literally going to go #1 there is no need to worry about sales, even if this tragedy wasn’t going on, there would be no need to worry. And besides - These protests are about human lives. You can argue all you want but human lives are far FAR more important than getting gaga clout on an album chart. If you think otherwise, then you need to rethink the reason that you are on a fan site for one of the biggest activists of our lifetimes. Just a balance of situations. It's for a day to show solidarity with the black community. She'll be fine. Think about the impact of the overall motive behind it and the clear message it sends, more than the alternate effect of it "affecting her sales". Morphine Prince 106,252
I’m sorry but you must live an absolutely vapid life to care about what a millionaire does with her own website to bring awareness to a cause she cares about.
AlwaysLoveGaga 4,297
I love this for 2 reasons 1. This is a beautiful move and puts focus on the problem at hand. It shows that Gaga really is a person with true beliefs. Not that I ever doubted that, but it’s just so beautiful to see her do these things. 2. Now I won’t feel compelled to buy more merch I love Gaga so much and it’s refreshing to see someone who is so passionate about their beliefs that they would lose revenue to stand by those beliefs The really fantastic thing about kindness is that it's free -Lady Gaga
GagaStefi 1,231
The fact that she did this during her album’s debut week really says something about her. I’m glad she’s the person I stan.

ImTired 3,955
This is worse than thoughts and prayers though. Its insulting. But Gaga shut her website down, so... I just don't even know anymore.
rasclautmangos 2,746
Thank Goodness! That $85 poncho was calling me! If she's going to talk about, she has to be about it. This is an excellent way to show her support whether you agree with it or not.
