So Variety recently released an article ranking each of Gaga’s album, including ASIB soundtrack, and I used to respect Variety but they made Chromatica number 5 :billie:

Spoiler

I think they were basing this ranking on her “craziness” that the main public thinks she used to exude, so I understand their ranking based on that but this list in my opinion is flawed af :ladyhaha:

I kind of agree.

Born This Way is #1 and time is only cementing that.

I'd change Joanne for The Fame. The Fame deserves #2, while Joanne is just below Chromatica at #6.

It's not a list I agree with entirely but it's not too bad. I would only change Joanne's #2 for The Fame's #6. Other than that, very nice list. Looks like they tried to look beyond the hype.

They put Chromatica at #5 and ASIB #7, well Coronavirus affected their taste buds I guess

Joanne deserves to be #3 after BTW and TFM.

pop ate my heart

They said she did not take ANY risks with Chromatica... ?¿?¿?

Am I the only one that thinks Chromatica is HIGHLY experimental? It's obviously dance music that's easy to play and have fun to. But to me, at the same time, it is very dense in sound, lyrics and imagery, and has an approach on house music that I have never heard before, which actually makes it not that easy to get and digest immediatly like your typical pop song(which is why to some it felt like a grower). Even the melodies and flow are not quite common, at least these days and in mainstream music. It's, to me, like Björk's Utopia (masterpiece) but make it 80's house-pop

Idk, to me it's just like what Gaga has done in her first four albums. Elevating pop, electronic music, experimenting with it, using clever references, deconstructing them and rebuilding something totally unique, and end up delivering a high-concept pop album w a fully realized aesthetic. ARTPOP
