This has been a depressing day

Imagine how it feels to be a black person in America everyday. This feeling never stops for them. Ever. Think about that.

Of course I have, I always think about black LGBTQ+ people being wrongfully hurt and it needs to stop, I don't like seeing people being hurt

the point is that you should be WAY MORE UPSET about the racism and white supremacy that CAUSED ALL OF THIS.

we cannot go back to "normal" because "normal" is what got us here!

i'm sorry that the unrest has burst the bubble that you live in and that it makes you upset to see people fighting. truly. but the pain that you feel now is felt EVERY SINGLE DAY by people of color living in america. every single day when cops pull them over without cause. every single day the cops are called on them for bird watching in Central Park. every single day when they are lynched for jogging in a white neighborhood.

the point is that we CANNOT and SHOULD NOT want to go back to normal.

I agree, the police system is f*cked up and we need to do something, of course, I do not know how it is to be black in America, it must be tough and it is brave those for standing up to racism

I almost didn’t respond to this, but I feel like I have to.

What you’re saying about this setting is back is not true. Does nobody on this site remember or know what stonewall was? It was a VOLENT landmark queer demonstration/protest that historians credit with launching and advancing gay rights in America. I hope for the rest of your life, you will remember the painful imagery we’re seeing across the country, and I hope you know that that feeling is what people of color feel every single day.

Lastly, yes, it IS on all of us white people. We may not all be actively racist, but we enjoy and reap the benefits of a racist system as Americans everyday. Unless you actively rise up to change that, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. It’s 2020, I expect you to be anti-racist, not just “not racist”. Because that is what being an ally means.

No I agree I just don't think the murder and burning down of buildings achieve anything. And I admit I was apart of the problem. I didn't think the world was overly racist anymore until all of this came out. For the actions i have played I am deeply sorry from the bottom of my heart. And to prove this I am willing to donate one thousand dollars to a charity supporting black people. Do you know of any?

very very glad to hear that you are willing to take these steps to rebuild a better world we can return to once this has passed.

there are a ton of resources out there, so I recommend finding one that speaks to you.
