:air: yes but what does rioting do? It destroys your own community. They burnt the Minneapolis post office.  How does that help their movement at all?

All violence does is outrage the opposition and fuel the far rights criticism of the BLM. It undermines the movements real political efforts.

And from the looks of it, the people encouraging rioting are a majority 20 year old socialist white men on Twitter. BLM advocates like Killer Mike & TI and black politicians like Mayor Keisha Bottoms of Atlanta are urging people to protest PEACEFULLY.

You are asking people who feel ostracised and are being murdered by the system to wait and obey it's rules.  You can't expect a group of people to obey by the rules when the rules kill them.

Burn one hundred more post offices down if it saves just one black person's life.

Yes I understand the frustration but that is a gross simplification of our country:

1. Both conservative and liberal politicians have called for the killers arrest and prosecution. NOBODY is defending him. Even Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, and other Republicans say he should be jailed for LIFE.

2. A small vocal minority hated Kapernick. The vast majority of the country agrees with him.

And sorry but as a politically involved person, no, riots don’t make progress. They tear our communities apart. They destroy small businesses. They leave us in ruins.

Voting makes progress. Working for campaigns makes progress. Joining advocacy lobbying groups makes progress.

Conservative and liberal politicians may have called for his arrest and prosecution, but everyday conservatives (especially Trump's hardocre base) probably see it differently.

Knowing someone like my father, while he hasn't explicitly expressed his opinions on the situation, I can already tell just by how he is and what his opinions are that he doesn't see anything wrong with George Floyd's death. My mother also probably wouldn't care either. These people are the people you need to fight off.

I do agree that rioting leaves places and businesses in ruin, which is awful, but you cannot come back with the argument that people need to peaceful protest. People have been doing that, and still people complain about it. Also, it unfortunately isn't a "small vocal minority." I wouldn't say that the "vast majority of this country" agrees with Kapernick. You may see that a lot on social media, but the silent majority is out there, unfortunately.

Ideally, peaceful protest would be the way to get politicians to do something about it, but we do not live in an ideal world.

And yes, violence IS the answer in a lot of cases.

Just look at history.

People keep forgetting about Stonewall. Riots are what led to gay rights. There’s no other way.

Human life exceeds any monetary value.  We can build another post office but we can't bring someone back to life.

Can I just say I find it really distasteful you're LMAO'ing at posts in here.  It doesn't bother me but it's really not a good look dude.

Some weeks ago everyone was upset with some protesters. Now I see the same people being ok with other protesters who dont respect social distancing.

And even more outrageous, some are ok with the violence. Wtf? :saladga:

Violence is not a solution.

People are desperate but it's not an excuse.

i’ll leave this here

And he was murdered. So what's your point?

Do you really think that LGBTQ people or women would have the same rights they have today, if they weren't protesting out on the streets?

Stone Wall was far from peaceful protest and look where it got us.

They're doing what is necessary.

The sad thing is that there are people who care more about the riots than about the systematic racism of this country.

I 100% agree with what you're saying.

I am usually not an advocate for violence, but this sh*t has been going on for years and nothing has been done to correct it. Enough is enough.

Period.

People who are focusing more on the looting and the rioting are missing the entire point and it's infuriating.

It's about the form of protest. People don't burn cars, buildings during Pride.

If you don’t support the violence and you don’t support racism, then maybe it’s time you actually start supporting the methods you think would be better. Help elevate black voices, help put them in more powerful positions through voting, partake in peaceful protests, donate to non-profits, etc. You don’t need to support the war to help end it. But if you’re only complaining about the riots and or doing nothing about racism then you’re not helping.
