As much as you may think some uprising on society through looting and burning is a good idea, we all know how this will go down. People will take this as a sign of terrorism and the polarization will only grow stronger.  It amazes me how many times humanity needs to see this happen again and again to get that. 

You said it yourself. Anger cannot come from people who think straight because in moments of frustration like this, how can they? People cannot sit back and watch the authorities do nothing about this. They can't express their anger and frustration in any way. Think of it like you're in a pressure cooker. If you keep being put under pressure, you will explode. The US system is corrupt and no one wants to do anything about it. They're trying other means and it's not working. An uprising is due.

Also, no... other nations did plenty of horrendous things - it never got as bad as black slavery in the US

An uprising is due but that does not mean we shouldn’t condemn any of the actions. We have someone in this thread talking the same way people would talk to justify war. Do you agree that more innocent civilians must die and have their lives ruined because their leaders are corrupt? How many times must we watch that happen? Sorry. I can’t have those morals changed in me overnight. If you want justice seek it where the murderers are. Do not kill a whole empire of civilians when you can kill their emperor. A country is not their army, A city is not their mayor, and a community is not their police officer. That is the way I feel.

What does an uprising look like then? I don't expect a full war to happen because of this. However, protests and riots need to happen. When people cannot get to their leaders, this is what they do. This has been going on for years, way before trump even happened. There's a systematic disease that needs to extracted. It's like a tumor. Best treatment is extraction. 

Also it must be nice to have morals where you won't turn violent. A lot of people cannot afford that because there's an entire system that works against them. There are not rules or ethics when it comes to angry responses to oppression. If your first reaction is to critique how people respond to oppression, then maybe it's time to check your own privilege.

I completely understand why there are riots, they're 100% justified, I just wish people would have kept their focus on the Police station. Doing this is just hurting people who've done nothing wrong.

Even the original organizer said earlier in the day that this isn't what was supposed to happen. I get that people are fed up and angry, not thinking straight but this isn't the way.

Being against unnecessary violence is somehow apparent of my privilege? Interesting. Would love to see you denounce people like Gandhi, Mandela, etc. for their similar beliefs. And I find it amusing that you believe this is my first reaction to the topic at hand, as if this is the only place I could ever use my voice to speak upon the subject. Notice how my only responses on here are from quoting others. If you can find any original statement from me on this thread please show me though. 
 

Back to the actually conversation, I never specifically said protests and riots shouldn’t happen. I do remember attacking your belief that looting and burning is something we should just let happen though. If people are wanting to walk the streets great. If they want to march to the White House, even better. But when they start to burn down businesses of the innocent and steal their things, that’s nothing I’ll proudly stand behind. So yes, continue believing that those actions are justifiable, and accuse anyone else who disagrees of privilege. But if you want a genuine conversation I’d suggest you find another way to share those ideas. السلام عليكم peace

I hope none of you ever are put in situations where you need to respond in a riot. You lot talk like people want this response. They had no choice.
