Am I the only one who feels this way?

This was an interesting thread to read through. I have a lot of opinions on the film in general, but I didn't find it Bradley Cooper heavy to the point of vanity. Considering the amount of involvement he had, it actually seems a little more balanced compared to other films I've seen where the writer also directs and acts. I do agree that Jackson is the protagonist and I was a little surprised by how much male energy it had. Not that it is a bad thing, but just unexpected based on marketing, which I think maybe is part of your point?

For a star to be born, a star had to die. It felt very 50/50 to me.

No, I liked that finally, an emphasis was being made about his character and his problems, I found that the other versions were treating that in a shallow way. I've always thought that this was what the story was about : how her rise to fame is impacting him. I prefer seeing it from his point of view than an external point of view. how I didn't notice that Gaga's character was less important, or had less screen time or anything. I only saw it once though, I'll try to pay attention to that if I watch it a second time. And she was pretty much already taking the spotlight with the music, it's good that there was a balance and Bradley could compensate with the acting.

LOVE JUNKIE

My initial reaction when I first saw ASIB in theaters was "I feel like a lot was cut out". Perhaps the film was more balanced or even more Ally-centric before it reached the editing room.
