We already know tht SL has a sample and Babylon (if its the same as the leak/Haus Labs ad) has a sample so I wouldn't be surprised if more songs have samples. And pop music samples other songs all the time, it's very normal.

Maybe you still see it as recent because you grew up with it and see it as nostalgic. 2006 to now 2020 is a long time.

It's like a song from the 2000s sampling an 80s song. I didn't grow up in the 80s so those songs seem like old songs to me back then. Kids today see songs from the 2000s as old too.
