I personally expected something so different it was hard to enjoy this at first.

I love Florence voice and writing and I feel both didn't really get to shine in this song.

I love that it's meant to be empowering but I expected it to be a bit more explosive and joyous sounding, hard to explain.

Also a big Elton John fan and often when I hear Hey Girl I just want to turn on Bennie and the Jets.

I like the song and was surprised at how well they matched sound wise but I expected something more deep and joyous I guess.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

It’s slow, it was overhyped as a florence collab, it seemingly has no structure

*no structure*, the song literally is a call and response verse, hook, instrumental interlude, verse, hook, bridge, hook, outro

We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Hyperobject

I think it's about expectations vs reality thing

People wanted something different from this duet I guess

But for me this song is the highlight of the album and I absolutely adore production on this one, it sounds like timeless bop

because we love gaga, we love florence, but hey girl was a waste of the united potential

Taking the song into context of the Joanne narrative and chronological order of the album I think this is one of the best songs (shoutout to Sinner‘s Prayer). I wasn‘t a fan of it too but it surprisingly made me cry the most when I felt vulnerable and needed something uplifting to hear. I suddenly connected to everything going on in it. Like the „homecoming“ feel, the unagitated „it is okay“- message combined with the ambient production, everything put at the last quarter of the album makes this song age at this spot beautifully and pure which makes Joanne such a just very special record overall.

I don't think anyone was expecting a banger from this album, but it didn't have anything else going for it either.

Lyrically it's super weak, almost childish. The production is probably the least well done on Joanne - that wandering synth just sounds kind of cheap when the rest of it is just so barebones. Vocally it's okay, not exactly a standout performance from either of them.

Aside from this it's just the wasted potential. Two of the greatest vocalists of this generation, one of the greatest mainstream lyricists and one of the best hook writers we have right now. It really could have been so much more impressive.

No structure? I respect your opinion but to me it has a classic great pop structure

'cause it's flat and too simple. We're not used to hear songs like that if they come from Gaga

I think the lyrics are great, and I think it's the best produced song for the album BY FAR (one of the best prods in Gaga's carreer)
