Unpopular opinion, but y'all are so eager to blame Gaga....when I think the hackers and fans are in part to blame for the lack of hype. The obvious factor is the Corona, though.

So many fans were tweeting they would listen to to the hacked music that even Bobby picked up on it, and he has better things to do than listen to stan twitter. Hana straight up said Gaga was very upset about the leaks. How do you all think she feels, knowing that she's made it public that the leaks upset her, that her fans are still gleeful about them? And I'm not blaming people for listening to leaks (spreading them is another story), but it's not hard to see how that would bother Gaga.

Also, as soon as ASIB was done fans and "fake insiders" kept thinking the album was around the corner even though we knew she was still in the studio. Over a year of believing it was coming ASAP damps the excitement for some. And again, I'm not sure that's entirely on Gaga because plenty of artists drop photos of them in the studio without their fans being convinced it means they are releasing music ASAP. I will say, knowing the fanbase, she perhaps should have said "spring 2020" a year ago...but that's about it.

But, she's had this album for a long time now (some tracks for over two years, even long before Enigma) and although she's been busy with ASIB and Vegas... From Haus Labs to mental health awareness (which again, I commend) - Chromatica has been constantly put on the back burner and it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. 

1) Because she's supposed to be, at least to me, 'the' pop visionary of our generation... you know, the one who cares deeply about music more than anyone else on the scene. and more than any other side project.  

And 2) it suggests that the music is not where her mind or vision presently it is at this moment. 

Listening to a body of work that represents Gaga's 2018 vision, for example, isn't electrifying to me when the main reason I love her work is because of how representative it is of what she does and deeply wants to do at the moment in her life. 

I don't know. I hope I'm not being senselessly negative here, I'm just kind of reflecting on why this album isn't gripping me yet. It's just, on so many levels, missing that 'Gaga' element that goes beyond a good (or even outstanding) song. 

For me, Bad Romance would not have been as enjoyable had it not come from an artist so engaged and so creatively inspired by the song. I guess that's my point. I need to feel something from her to feel something true from the music. 

And that's not because I don't love her music (because I do on an objective level, even removed from her) - it's just that I've come to expect a personal connection from her projects... since, after all, that's what being a fan is all about. 

She was literally in the studio during the holidays, so how can you say she's had the album done for a while now?

I know damn well Gaga was busy with Miss Corona but Dua Lipa still made live performances from her home, Katy Perry performed her lead single Daisies on Amazon Music today live from her home, I’m not mad at Gaga, I’m just extremely sad (yeah I know how pathetic of me to be sad about music) cause I feel like this era is such a big missed opportunity, Gaga is best when she’s with her piano, I just thought that she would have find a way to perform Stupid Love live from her home with a piano just like she used to perform her singles at the piano before and now we only ever hear from her when it’s time to buy some merch. She also could have made interviews from her home like so many others did.

I just feel like Gaga is not excited about this or like she feels like Chromatica is just a side project.

Please, keep in mind that I’m not being negative, I just love Gaga & her music so much and I’m simply sharing my concerns.

PS: I bought my signed copy and vinyl so maybe I’m 1% hyped.

You don’t need to explain yourself. It’s ok not to be positive 24/7. Positivity is reactionary after all. But yeah, I totally agree. She doesn’t seem to be doing anything when many other artists did so much, even from their own home.

I mean yeah, she’s Gaga and we love her, but she’s not Adele where a badly taken selfie can get her to trend No.1 worldwide for a whole day. She can’t just expect the music to sell itself. She could’ve filmed a visual counterpart for the album and released it alongside it if she can’t perform, or did a small show streamed live from home.

It feels like even Ariana is more excited than she is...
