Azealia Banks

It's rumored she was dropped from interscope, and BWET is delayed.

From allhiphop.com

"Word on the street is that Azealia Banks has been dropped from her label home Interscope Records. It seems like they have not renewed some short-term contract for new recordings from the Harlem-bred 21-year-old. Looks like they just dropped her, straight up. Not sure of the source, but she was supposed to drop and album in the first quarter of this year and it seems like Broke With Expensive Taste will be on hold. She wasn’t getting any push anyway, save what she did herself on Twitter."

:omg:

she'll just get picked up by another label super quick if this turns out to be true, so I wouldn't worry too much

I don't think that's true.

Just this morning she was talking about continuing work on her album.

It's all over 2013 most anticipated lists so I don't Interscope would do that

Because a black person calling a black person a "ni.gger" is diffrent then a bis-xual woman calling a gay man a "fa.ggot". They're two diffrent groups of people, if it was a gay man calling a gay man a "fa.ggot" it wouldn't be such a big deal because they're in the same boat.

Black person = Black person

Bis-xual Woman =/= Gay Man

While I'm generally on your side in this debate (in the sense that I think her use of the word was uncalled for and, whether or not she intended it, does carry all sorts of messy implications given the context she used it in--though I do also think in evaluating her character we have to take a lot of information into consideration, in which case I will strongly say I don't think Azealia is homophobic or transphobic--indeed, her engagement with queer culture is well-documented, and overall I think she's had a net positive effect for the queer community in the hip hop scene) I think the bolded simplification is a bit unfair.

A black person =/= a black person. Assumptions and perceptions of race are WAY too wrapped up in other signifiers of identity (especially class) for this to be true. The way someone dresses/speaks/the specific shade of their skin pigmentation, etc. etc. all are absolutely real and important differences that can shape racial perception and community--as real as the differences between a bis-xual woman and a gay man.

bis-xual women are disapproved of just like gay men are, even moreso since some gays even decide bis-xuality is a lie.

therefore I'd say it's pretty fair enough to group them as people prejudiced over s-xuality.

I am not saying it gives her the right to call a gay person a *******, I am saying that it is the same as a black person calling another a ******* - a matter which society doesn't really care about any more..

So glad Azealia wasn't dropped

Ikr, Interscope would be retarded to drop her at this point, BWET is on many most anticipated list.

I root for you. I love you. You, you, you, you.
