I strongly disagree on the second part. First of all, it would make no sense for her to tell people that the sound was new for her. She's the ****ing Rah Rah bitch. People knew it was different from what she had been doing without her being on the nose about it. Besides, the Joanne era interviews were some of the best interviews she's given. And she's very upfront about everything. I don't mean to sound catty, but I think it might be you who's missing the point. Im not saying the joanne interviews were not good . People knew she was going different but did they know why she was going different?

Kattys 4,319
The biggest mistake was promoting it as some kind of „relatable to woman in her 30s album that I made for that kind of regular girl” when in reality she made that album for herself and her family. The message was not cohesive for me.

Daylight Jokers 14,958
I think A-Yo would've been a better lead single because it's a good mix of pop and country, so it's the perfect transition to introduce the other singles that sound more country. DIC would be a better promo single than John Wayne. Million Reasons is perfect for 2nd single, Joanne for 3rd, and Diamond Art for 4th and final single. So that's 2 upbeat singles and 2 ballads. Battle 4 Ur Life 6,713
it was successful enough. I'd hate it if she'd never gone back to dance pop again. that would suck imo. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”

Gracious Gaga 17,163
Gaga didn’t write perfect illusion, technically the song existed before she even came into the picture so I don’t think the song is about anyone she dated in particular, more just a generic kind of break up feeling whatever ♥ Kindness Police.
