    • Yes, it matches my expectations for a Gaga record.
    • No, Future Nostalgia is good but it's not on Gaga's level.
    • No, Future Nostalgia is not good whether for Gaga or Dua.

I can only see her doing Hallucinate and Physical. The rest of the tracks fit Katy more. FN is a very good album, but thematically, it doesn't feel like a Gaga album.

The saddest part of it all is, although its a GREAT pop record, if Gaga were to put it out it would not have received that high of a score on metacritic..... music is music but the critics seem to use the persona of the artist to factor in their scores its stupid

Idk if we can call Gaga’s music completely experimental but let’s not act like she’s not the only mainstream pop artist that would release some of the stuff that’s on BTW and ARTPOP :deadbanana:

anyways yes FN would be a disappointment from Gaga. Not bad, but not as bold as I would like

I would love Break My Heart, Levitating and Physical even if they were by Ellie Goulding

It would be a serious downgrade. Too basic as generic for a Gaga album. Even Joanne was more ambitious than FN. But for someone like Dua, yeah it wasn’t too bad. For Dua it was actually ambitious I guess bc it has a concept. But for Gaga it’s not enough.

Props to Dua for making it big, but her music isn't doing much for me  Believe me, I've tried.

Albums don't need to have concepts to be good. Plenty of great albums have no concept or theme at all. What matters is the craftsmanship of the songs themselves.

Well yes but I was talking about how the fact that the album is kind of conceptual and has an overall theme makes the album ambitious for a starting artist like Dua. But for Gaga it wouldn’t be the same bc she’s done concept albums before more ambitious than that.

Future Nostalgia is a concept album? I thought it was just a collection of songs. That's what I want Gaga to do for LG7. An album with no concept at all.

I said “kinda” conceptual. It’s more like it has an overall theme. Just look at her visuals and promotion for the album. It’s a retro album with a modern twist, with inspiration from disco and 80s-90s music. All of the promotion for the album followed that same retro style, even her looks for the era. So yes, it’s not just a collection of songs like her first album.

I love FN. But I'd rather have her have an album like SAWAYAMA.

SJDSKJDSLKDSJKDLSJDKLSEUJESKEAL MY THOUGHTS :nooo:

One thing I didn't like that much about Future Nostalgia, is that, opposite to the name, the album doesn't do a good job of bringing together classic tunes with a modern sound (which I THINK it's the theme of the album, hence the name). It's just a disco album and I felt like it went to the safest route possible, and that's ok. I think if Gaga were to release it, it'd bomb.

I'm really impressed by SAWAYAMA because it actually brought classical 2000 pop hits beats mixed with rock influences and modern touches, such as "SOPHIE's pans" (as some of you like to say :triggered:) in hits like XS.

In my humble opinion, Rina did a superior job in bringing old pop + modern pop together by a mile. And that's wasn't even her album's theme
