kurtz 52
I recall watching Lady Gaga’s Coachella concert live on TV and then thinking, hey, thousands of people are now fighting traffic and trying to get home and I can just walk upstairs and go to bed. I would have gladly paid for a PPV of that concert. We went to see The Rolling Stones last summer and it took an hour to get out of the parking lot! If the choice is no Chromatica Ball concerts this year or a big PPV show live-streamed then I will happily purchase the PPV. Not the same as a live show but it would have its own possibilities. Lady Gaga is such a trailblazer that she should take the lead in this new format and maybe she will. I would be excited to see what she could do with it. If Lady Gaga does a virtual concert you have to pay for, you bet your ass most of us will wait for the next day when streamers share their links online. You can't replicate going to a real concert with a virtual concert. I'm not here for that. Now a free stream performance to watch on YouTube I am here for. Just as most people aren't paying for their music. I agree that a virtual concert might not be the same as a live concert, but that doesn't mean it's not a concert. If for you the best part of that experience is to actually be in the venue with other people, that's ok. But, personally, being socially anxious and not so fond of crowds, I'd much rather pay for a virtual event. And in any case, you wouldn't be paying for the whole "live experience", because the prices would for sure be lower. Good for you if you don't want to pay. I'm not saying you don't have a right to do that. But that doesn't mean the event itself should be free. If you don't feel like supporting the work that went into creating that event, that's on you. Same decision that you make when deciding to buy an album or download it illegally.

The fun of the concert is the cheering from the fans, the artist interacting and talking to the crowd, and how they feed their energy from them to perform better. A concert without an audience is just a music video.
PunkTheFunk 124,405
If there's some sort of virtual reality component to it I wouldn't mind paying a bit of money. Maybe $2.99 but nothing more than that.
kurtz 52
Being there in person for a live concert is the best experience. I have tickets for her Wrigley Field concert and I want to go. But if that won’t happen this year, I’m all for a PPV Chromatica show. We’ve been watching boxing on PPV for years and it can be a lot of fun. Consider this: no traffic, no worries about your flight getting canceled the morning of the show, no getting stuck behind a tall person who blocks your view. You make your own snacks and use your own bathroom. If you need more realism, you can always stand outside your house for 6 hours before letting yourself in to watch the concert. One of my favorite artists recorded her Red Rocks show last year in 360 so for anyone with a VR thing it’s like standing in the crowd or on the stage (the perspective moves). Even without one of those headset things you can drag it around on YouTube to see the different perspectives. It was free, but I totally would have paid for something like that reality’s tight if the music is right
Gracious Gaga 17,163
if you don't wanna pay then you don't get to watch. simple as that ♥ Kindness Police.
Jed 7,716
It’s not a permanent replacement it’s a temporary thing. For all the people that wanted her to release music but you’re dragging this wtf was she supposed to do the whole era

If you read the article they’re waiting until it’s safe to enter venues and perform professionally with a limited crew. People pay $50-$70 to watch a fight that could last for 3 minutes. You really wouldn’t spend that much to watch Gaga perform a 2-hour show? Also they can sell it to streaming services y’all likely already pay for. Some of you missed the entire point of this article lol

Tell me more about this!? I watched a virtual DJ set on my oculus and it was like I was in an actual audience. It was amazing !

GregJA 5,223
Geoblocked pay-per view location based concerts ‘’that’s gotta be some of the dumbest things I’ve heard so far. Do they not know what the “internet” is... I think overall it seems dumb but to block it off ... why the hell ... fire whoever made that dumb suggestion Mr. No Award Winner 2020
ARTPOPSYCHOLOGY 6,270
Something like this is also an option: obviously everyone doesn’t have an oculus but I’m just saying there are very innovative options
