The CDC just revised its death count down to 38,000 in america, which makes this virus not even on par with car accident deaths (1.2 million a year, about 40-50k alone a year in the U.S)
 

Anyone giving her **** for walking around an empty beach with a mask on with the person she is isolating with needs to never be allowed to drive a car again if they are so scared of this virus tbh. Some people seem to be buying into the fear mongering hook, line and sinker at this point. Lana followed the procedure she was supposed to; you can walk around with a mask on.

Just curious: where are you getting your information? The CDC as of yesterday is counting a total of 65,735 deaths in the US alone -> https://www.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/index.html

This virus is incredibly serious and the reason why numbers are lowering is a direct result of taking it seriously and self isolating. The result of taking all necessary precautions is nothing happens so don't take any sense of calm or recovery for granted or think people have been overreacting.

Caring about the well being of others in general is optional in the US  definitely a culture of "f*ck you, got mine".

Only in the US will you see right wing folks protesting isolation, saying "my body my choice!" and "survival of the fittest!" ...but then they'll also protest abortion saying "all lives matter!"

The official CDC website updated it to 38,000 but changed dates to feb 1 - May 1st; you are right, it is 65,000 total for the entirey of the pandemic so far though. Main issue is none of these are confirmed as covid since hospitals can say any death as covid-related. A lot of fishiness going on from my POV.

They are quarantining together—no big deal. However, many of the beaches are closed in CA (especially after people went crazy and swarmed beaches in Orange County last week) and/or you are asked to avoid going to the beach so the location's a bit dicey. Again, who knows though? They could be at a beach that is open...

TLDR: Tons of people are acting like fools, but at the same time some folks are overreacting and accusing people of being reckless when they are not...

it varies state by state or even city/region (for example, San Francisco was on a very, very strict lock down and is only now easing up a bit). In many places, you are allowed to leave the house to go the grocery store, an essential job, the pharmacy, a doctor's appointment/hospital, or for exercise. You aren't, however, supposed to just go sit on the grass in a park...and yet a lot of people are doing exactly that. In some places, a mask is required whenever you are outside. Some states have basically zero restrictions at this point, which is insane. It's actually a bit confusing in California. Up until a week or so ago I was under the impression all state parks were closed, but apparently only some were closed but all vehicle access/parking was and still is closed.

The main problem, as some above have pointed out, as we have a "I got mine, f*ck the rest of y'all" culture in the US. A lot of idiots are not social distancing/not wearing masks and are swarming parks that have re-opened or stayed open. Also, most of the parks that opened were meant to be open for exercise...not for people to just sit around in groups.
