To us they seem basic or whatever we want to call it, but Gaga knows the image she wants to portray and I’m sure that is discussed with Sarah (or whoever is doing her makeup from the past). I just learned who Billy B was through RPDR and he had some pretty iconic looks for Gaga. All the Sarah haters come out but she has some real talent too.
