I was thinking about that, and maybe they do it so that the shiny deluxe sticker would get more people to buy the album, because "oh my gosh it's probably a limited edition, I'd better not waste this opportunity", whereas if all the albums on the shelves were normal, less people would buy. So the bonus songs are maybe just an excuse to say that one edition is deluxe... I hope not, it sounds ridiculous and cheap, but you never know The worst example of weird deluxe editions is Rebel Heart, the title track was a bonus song! What's the point? And on Dedicated, by our good queen Carly Rae Jepsen, "Party for One" is also a bonus track, and it's a SINGLE, with an actual music video! Why would they do that!? Yeah... that was so dumb, Messiah and Rebel Heart should be on the standard album I don't know how to write in english
Galvon 1,868
Most deluxe tracks come after all standard tracks, which I think ruins the story of the album. Like with Electra Heart, which tels a story that is meant to end with Fear And Loathing (because that is when she dies), but the deluxe album has more songs after that one. So I thought are thos meant as if she sings them in the afterlife, because she died in the song before and now she is back. Allthough in the Born This Way album the deluxe tracks are placed in beween standard tracks. Like a directors cut version of a movie. This aint really an answer. Electra Heart is a perfect example, Buy The Hears has nothing to do with the concept of the album, Sex Yeah would've fit better on The Family Jewels with those lyrics, Lonely Hearts Clubs is okay, it could've been on the album, but it doesn't changes nothing if it isn't. Now, Radioactive is weird, cause is even a part of the Electra Heart videos, so I don't know why she separated it I don't know how to write in english
2School4Cool 6,449
A lot of artists like to create a solid cohesive album of roughly 12 songs, but during the songwriting process they write a good 60 or more songs for the album. They may take song songs that don’t necessarily fit the flow or sound of the standard album but they really love and add them as bonus tracks. Obviously that’s not always the case but that can be really common. See The Best In Everyone
joaomggd 124
What I dont get abt deluxe versions is how most of them(at least in pop?) are/were released at the same time as the standard. Why not use them as a way to breathe new life into the album later, with some other single or something. Selena did it, and i thought that was smart even if.. well selena
