however most artists release two smash singles then a third one right on album drop (see Dua)

I think she should release Chromatica May 29th and drop FW promo single on the Monday before. Then on friday album drop with ROM mv and sour candy lyric video/mv (if mv could happen)

Break My Heart is a smash single, and deserves respect 

I'm all for a promo single, they've been pretty successful in the past (See Dope hitting #8) 
If the album is a story, which it's looking more and more to be, it probably would be better to listen to the whole thing in order. But it's not like that would be the first time this has happened (See CryBaby) 
So yeah, I don't see anything wrong with her releasing a promo single, may I ask why we're all expecting FW tho?

that did more harm than good

billboard dragged her and changed the rules so that advertised songs you're forced to watch dont get counted

she needed that tactic for SL and she sealed her own fate! Lol jk  

I am not sure - i think it may be better in this case to just wait and release all songs with no previews or anything. Also, if they make every single track on the album 'album only' it encourages people to buy it on itunes because they want to hear it - Taylor did that. It could backfire on Gaga tho.

well - most artists are starting their eras early and then trying to get some hits in before release. SL is now finished on the charts WW. ROM is good as single #2 but the way this era is planned is confusing me - i thought the era would have started and shed have released a smash. I think they want to release ROM then album and if ROM is going to be a massive hit it will sell the album. Its just instead of milking the singles then releasing they are doing single then release.

We will see. I think either way a promo single or no promo single will help.

Promo singles for Gaga tend to sabotage the planned rollout of the era. So if the rumors of releasing Chromatica a week after second single Rain On Me are true, then it's most likely that she's not risking any more unplanned things to happen to this era.

I’d bet money on 8th promo single, 15th ROM, 22nd album.  Insiders have said since Feb that there would be a promo single after SL, we have been told a few MVs have been shot and everyone releases promo singles.  15th for ROM makes sense as it avoids the 22nd, which is the anniversary of the Manchester bombing.  People noticed the Gaga post was posted at 5.22 - that’s too random to not mean anything.

What is the point of promo singles? To me they're just noise, commercially speaking. Either promote it as a full fledged single, or keep the material untill album release.

I'd try and put out singles which have some sort of positive message attached to them, I don't think she will be able to release the album until this starts to settle down and you don't want to get too much backlash for releasing, so positive singles are probably the way to go.

i think back in that era, she used her promo singles to demo response. She did Hair V TEOG to trial a 2nd single - it's smart but at the same time it's not because of the threat of overshadowing the official singles.

I think she should wait, release album, and then add the hits to all the playlists and give them a mv. A bit like ILNA and ARUTW - but then people said it was missed potential. so its a hard one lol

I could see this era being successful if she released Rain On Me as the second single in the coming weeks.

Free Woman definitely should be released as something - promo single or otherwise.

Sour Candy has the potential to be a smash hit in Asia and I hope Gaga and her team jump on that and make it a single.

Not my flop country, South Africa playing SL on tv literally every hour.. And i hear it a LOT on radio. Legit. The last time they played  Gags this much was during the BTW era...

I know. the fact its short as well. what a la streaming smash 

if gaga was smart and this album was pretty much finsihed in 2019 she'd have planned it all out flawlessly. Whether blackpink came to the studio to record or not she should've have done a MV with them. a lyric video wont have the same effect on fnas. BLACKPINK & Ari are gonna tug chromatica to success!

its a radio hit and Gaga mvs are eaten up by TV - i remember GUY. it just a shame the good press and radio/mv support never translated to sales or streams
